Cash/Tipping

We do. However, our last trip the person who we left the bags with said he couldn't accept the tip. The person who was there when we picked up took the tip though.
The person who took your bags may have been a college program participant (CP.) My DD is a CP and they are not allowed to take tips even though she works in bell services. Her pay is the same as other cp's and is not dependent on tips.

Yeah, I think I looked a little odd at the bank this morning getting $60 worth of $5's and $1's, plus 4 rolls of pennies. We want to do lots of the penny stamping, and I want shiny pennies so I knew I would have to sort through a lot to find what I want!

You can also clean them with vinegar and salt. - If you Google it, it will come up as a science experiment for kids, but it's great to get them shined up for pressing too! (Just rise them very well, of course.)

I agree with tipping Mousekeeping daily, as the shifts do change, and I've found cute envelopes here on the DISboard that you can print out! I don't remember the specific threads, but here are some on Pinterest as well:

That's perfect! My daughter was just asking to do an experiment yesterday! She loves experiments. We may have to try this today.

If you have the deluxe dining plan do you still have to tip? Or is all that included?

I feel guilty now bc I tipped mousekeeping at the end, we left a note as well. We had cute towel animals on several days.. I didn't realize there were multiple people. I always tip housekeeping in an envelope on check out day whenever I'm at a hotel.
You're not alone! I plan to change my habits now, though, after reading this thread.

I just hope the lucky ones shared with the rest!

How much cash do you bring for tipping? Other than housekeeping, who do you tip? We'll be staying at CBR for 6 nights. What's an average tip for that resort? Normally we just stay at pretty cheap hotels, so I'm not really sure what to tip!

I tip every day of our stay, and I tip $1 per day per person in our party. So when DH, DS and I go, $3 per day. I put the tips in an envelope and write "for housekeeping, Thank you!" and I tape it on the bathroom mirror so that they know it is for them.

I actually do the same thing no matter where we stay in a hotel.

Me too. I've actually been bothered by this since reading this thread. We left a very large tip- due to the cute 'surprises' that we had in our room on almost a daily basis. I hope the person who received said tip was the same one who made the towel animals and put my son's stuffed Stitch in different fun places.

I tipped mousekeeping $5/day with a handwritten "thank you" note- I preferred to tip daily and not all at the end of our stay just in case we had a different mousekeeper every day. I tipped ME drivers $1/each bag/item that was placed underneath in the storage area.

This is what we tip no matter where we stay.

Will it be rude if I use recycled envelope to put the tip money for mousekeeping? I have lots of unused business reply envelopes from banks.

As long as you mark it clearly so they know what's inside, I don't think it would be rude.

I don't think its rude. We don't even put it in an envelope - we leave it on the bed.

I usually tip the person a BS who takes my bags from the car and then tip the person who brings them up to the room since they are not the same person. I tip a dollar a bag unless I only have one bag then I usually had them between 3 and 5. The only time I haven't tipped BS is when I was saying at Swan, instead of leaving them in the car, which I normally would have done, when I checked in I brought them in with me since I was expecting my room to be ready. It was not so we handed them off to BS at the BS stand. We had brought them from the parking lot into the hotel ourselves and took them over to the bell desk. When we finally got our room later in the day, again they were just brought up to the BS desk and we took them to our rooms so we didn't tip.
I always tip $1/bag. But always unsure who gets tip. Def the person who brings bags to room and takes bags when we leave. But sometimes there's a 3 rd person. Sometimes the guy at car gives me the tickets, sometimes they bring me to another guy at bell service who issues tickets and wheels cart to bell service. Ugh. Depending what hotel your in.
And leaving sometimes (not at Disney) one bell service guy will get luggage from room, and a different bell service guy will load it in car. Too confusing.

Interesting!

I hope so too. But housekeepers are human and do have days off.

Housekeeping is an untippednposition. Therefore, it would be very difficult to find a ride way to tip them. And while I can come up with ride ways, reusing an envelope isn't one of them.

I don't use envelopes at all. I leave a small note saying "for housekeeping" (because they don't call themselves "mousekeeping") and put the money halfway under it in an easily spotted place.

Bags that are tagged for DME at the home airport and retrieved from behind the scenes have a tip included already. They should be delivered without anyone in the room. I was recently told that it's still Bell Services delivering, but because it's from DME the tip is included and the rules are different.

Bags that we give to Bell Services should not be delivered without us in the room because no tip has been given yet. The rules are different.

I don't like it when there's more than two people. I won't do it. I actually avoid those situations entirely because I dislike it so much.
