cash reservations

I was wondering if anyone has been lucky enough to get a cash member discount reservation for a weekend in July at OKW? I just called to inquire about it and they said that they are not always available and they have no idea when the non-point rooms become available. I find this very hard to believe.
1. Does anyone know when the rooms become available to MS

and
2. When do the rooms become available to CRO, and I will try to get a discount code.

Keep in mind that the following is just my opinion, please! I may be totally off base

In the past, I think that most of the rooms available for the 25% member discount came from unsold developer inventory. That is why they used to be more plentiful and easier to get. Since the on site DVC resorts (except for BCV) are sold out, member discounts (from that source) are few and far between.

Now I think that MS only offers the member discount if:

* they have rooms in the point inventory that they are pretty sure are not going to be reserved by members. Seems like they would have to wait until AT LEAST 3 - 4 months out to have any chance of being accurate on that forecast.

* there are lots of rooms that need to be rented for cash because of members trading for non-DVC options, and CRO isn't seeing enough demand to fill them all.

I think the best chance to get a member discount is 60 days or less from your arrival. That's when unreserved point inventory may be made available for waitlists or cash ressies.

In your situation, I think I would keep checking with CRO and try to get a code rate for the nights you need. It will probably be quite a while before codes for next July come out. Good Luck!

We just returned from OKW and had a discounted cash reservation for the last Saturday in July. The reservation was made just this past June - about 30 days out.

Friday and Saturday would be the easiest nights to get cash rooms with a discount because many members do not use points for those nights. I noticed in May in our parking lot at OKW building 31 almost every car had a Friday check-out date. Also be sure to check with CRO for code or AP discounts, they are usually more than 25%, more in the 40% range. They had a 1 bedroom in May at OKW for $239 (regular $375).

I have a friend who is a Disney Store CM and she decided to try to get an extra night at Hilton Head the past 2 years, asked the day before and got a 50% off CM rate with no problem (Friday night in the summer).

thanks for the encouragement. After talking with CRO and MS I was wondering if we were going to be able to get 5 consecutive days at OKW paying for the FRiday and Sat. I am going to keep my Poly ones just in case. I guess I have to have patients and wait until Dec or Jan and see if CRO gets any first. Thanks
