Hi all,
We are planning a trip in March '10 and we need to use cash for two nights. Can anyone share their experience with both discounts?
I know the AP discount is fairly good at the Disneyland Hotel, I wonder if the discounts are similar in WDW.
I checked with MS this afternoon, they are not accepting cash reservations this far out.
Thank you,
Mike

AP discounts are generally (but not always) better than the 25% cash discount on DVC rooms. Both AP and DVC discounts may not be offered for your particular dates.

If offered, the DVC discount is 25%. If offered, AP discounts are usually 25% to 40%, and vary seasonally. Remember, though, that a cash room reservation through CRO (Disney) can not be linked to a cash reservation through Member Services, so there is a possibility that you'd need to change rooms during your stay if going from points to an AP discounted room.

I justg booked a stay that combined both dvc and ap - I got a much better deal with the ap rate than what could be offered from dvc - they were surprised with the rate I was quoted - I booked ap - they noted the combined rooms on my dvc reservation - it is first, and then suggested that I request to stay in the same room at check in - hopefully it will be as easy as both sides said it would be.

The only problem is that some DVC reservations are not bookable for cash. So if you have one of those with your points, there is no way you can get that using cash. These include the BWV standard view and BW view. AKV concierge (more than likely), BCV dedicated two bedroom with two queens in the second bedroom.
