I booked my trip to BWV at the 11-month window but at about 7 months or so we decided to add another night cash reservation. They said the DVC discount was not available at that time. I've been calling every week or so for months now and have been told its not available, try back. Now our trip is almost at the 90-day mark, does anyone know from experience if the discount becomes available closer to the trip date? Does it really exist? When have you been able to get it??? Thanks for any help or advice!

The DVC cash discount really does exist but I'm not exactly sure when it is offered. Last month while at HHI we added an extra night using the DVC cash discount. We called in the middle of the week for a Saturday night stay.

Call MS and ask if the resort is fully booked for that night / room type. Rooms are offered at the cash discount if MS projects that it will be unable to book them all on points for the given night. If the resort is already booked-solid with members staying on points, then it doesn't look good.

If there is availability, have you considered "renting" points from another member to book the stay? You could also try out another WDW resort if you can't get a room at BWV.

Since they keep telling you the rate is not out yet, that makes it sound like it will be out at some point. I would keep calling once a week. We got the discount around 90 days or less before.

I got the member discount at OKW last year at about 65 days out, the first time I called. It was for a Friday & Saturday night in May, so it was a good bet that it wasn't going to sellout for points.

You said you are almost at the 90 day mark, so I assume your trip is late October. With the food & wine festival, my bet is they are already soldout or close to it. Have you checked with CRO?

It varies depending on availability and season. We had a 2BDR and a 1BDR this past trip and cash discounts were made available for both. For our cash nights this year at OKW The 1BDR discount was offered weeks before the 2BDR was offered. (App 90days this year for the 1BDR and 60 days for the 2 BDR)

I got a cash discount for VWL two weeks before travel date. Also got one at OKW 6 months out.

Also, check with CRO for an AP discount. Those can be more than a member discount. If no one in your party has an AP, you purchase one for a child and still get all the discounts.

Good luck
Sandy

Well, flip side ofthe coin here. I got my DVC member discount for a stuido and 1 br at BCV at 11 mos out! I guess there were a lot of BCV'ers trading out early.... I could NOT however get a BCV 2 br. That was my first choice. So I ended up reserving the studio and 1 br and requesting a lock-out if possible.

I have been calling MS off and on over the course of the past 10 months, however -- no 2 br available for discount. I aslo tried to see if I could swtich 1 br to a studio -- no dice -- nuthin left. HOWEVER -- every time that I have called -- there has always been availability at BWV! Weird, huh. Only reason we didn't go with BWV is b/c we will be staying there anyway later in our trip -- kids really wanted a taste of SAB. Plus our rooms at BWV are booked as Std view and the cash rooms being offered are pref non-BW. So we would only have to move anyway -- may as well take advantage of another resort and SAB for the kids.

So long story short, yes you can get it, but it's unpredictable what will be offered and when!

I got a DVC cash studio reservation at BWV 6 months out. I made the reservation in February for August.

We are planning a trip next June and I called MS about reserving some of the nights with cash since we don't want to borrow points. MS stated we would be able to reserve the room with points at the 11 month window and the cash portion would need to be added on at the 10-month window. By the posts listed above it seems this is not always the case! Annmarie

It really does depend on the time of the year you want to go - and you are also more likely to get a members' discount for a Friday or Saturday night than for a weeknight.

As already posted, a member's discount is only offered if DVC determines that not all the rooms in the points inventory will be needed to satisfy members'demand for reservations. Apparently, DVC has some type of historical data that can be used predict occupancy fairly accuarately.

IMHO, you are much more likely to get a members' cash discount for a June stay than for a December stay. December is booked up much more quickly than is June - that's just the way we members do it!

Best wishes -

P.S. Above applies mostly to the sold out resorts - there is often Develper's inventory available for the resorts still being sold. That inventory is usually offered to CRO to rent, but has also been available to members at a discount. That is why members' discounts are usually easier to get at the resorts that are not yet sold out.

Good luck to all hoping for a members' cash discount.

We got an OKW rate for September about a month ago for a studio for one night.

Thanks for your response. I am going to try and make my reservations this week. Annmarie

I was able to snag an OKW grand villa with a member discount for Dec. 31, 2004. $1075 plus tax instead of 162 points....

We received the member discount for a 2 BR at HHI a few months ago.
