Cash reservation at Aulani, no free laundry?

With my every one of my stays in a DVC studio, whether I booked it on points or cash, I was able to access the laundry rooms at no charge. I have read that this is not the case at Aulani. Anyone have any idea why cash reservations for a studio are not allowed access? But isn't it true to for parking at all DVC properties? Cash guest pays, a points guest does not.

I always thought free laundry was for people staying on points only. maybe WDW software doesn't make the difference properly

Are you staying as a cash guest on your membership? Typically, that is why it’s free via WDW.

I would think the same is true if booking via MS for a Aulani. DVC members who book DVC for cash via WDW reservations are Not always given the free things when booking that way.

I would be just a cash guest. No membership. It is not that big of a deal, but made me wonder, that is all.

Parking is free for a cash paying guest at Aulani if you have the blue card. Does not matter if you are staying hotel rooms or DVC rooms.

Are you staying in a hotel designated room or DVC room? Hotel rooms(non DVC side) do not get free laundry room privileges I believe. I believe if you are paying cash but in a DVC room, you will get free laundry room access.

They checked for DVC membership, before giving the laundry tokens, last time I was there. But it also depends on who is manning the front desk, as I was there for over a week, and sometimes was just as easy as asking, and sometimes you had to prove DVC membership, even if white card. As I cash guest, I would expect that you won't get free laundry tokens.

Great3

It is not that big of a deal. Certainly not something I am going to worry about, lol. But I wonder why Aulani does it with tokens? That does seem strange there. I won't have a car at Aulani so the parking fee won't apply to me.

I read a lot about the laundry and parking situation on the Aulani forum ahead of my March stay at Aulani using rented points. Based on what I read and on my own experience, you only can get tokens for the laundry machines if you are the DVC member (regardless of white or blue card). Since we were using rented points, we could access the machines, but had to pay to use. As for parking, if you’re staying on points (rented or owned) , it’s free. Some CMs have been confused about this in the past and you just need to somewhat escalate if you’re told something different. The parking is almost $40 a day if you’re staying on a cash reservation.

Ya, I will have to pay for laundry. No big deal. But I will not be paying for parking as we won't have a car. I still wonder why they use the token approach with the laundry here?

This made me think about our first stay at Hilton Head, on a cash reservation. Our studio was right beside the laundry room. I was able to open my door and open the next door and do my laundry without hardly taking five steps. That was great!!
