We are starting to plan our next trip for Jan 09 and wanted to stay at AK on points (202) for 14 nights but will actually be there for 15 nights.

we were thinking of POP because it will prob be late when we arrive on the Sunday and would switch Monday to AK.

Do DVC members get a discount on cash reservations? Is it a percentage or a set Dollar figure?

DVC members can get a 25% discount only at DVC resorts, pending availability (member discounts aren't always available).

Thanks.

now would i have to book this at the same time i book my points nights or do i call the cash res line and tell them i'm DVC?

Unless you want to risk changing rooms between the points and cash reservations, you need to book the cash stay through Member Services. If you are lucky, you will even get the members' discount - which as already mentioned, is 25% off rack rate plus tax.

There may or may not be cash availability when you call to book your points reservation at 11 months. If not, you have to keep trying and hope that cash availability opens up for your dates. Usually, there is more availability as the date approaches (but not always). Friday nights and Saturday nights are available more often than the week nights.

If you book the cash reservation through CRO/WDWTC, there is no guarantee that you will be able to stay in the same room. You can request to do so - ask the CM making the cash reservation to cross reference your DVC confirmation number with your request to stay in the same room. Then call MS back and ask the CM to note your CRO/WDWTC confirmation number with the same request. At a minimum, you will have to go to the front desk and check out and back in again. The DVC resorts do try to keep you in the same room in these situations, but sometimes it just doesn't work and you have to change rooms.

Good luck!
