Hello all-
I am going to be booking a reservation with my DVC membership for my daughter and friend for 2 nights using my points. My daughters friends Mom will be paying for the 3rd night. Question #1- Since I (the Member) will not be traveling on this trip, I cannot get the DVC cash discount for that 3rd night, correct? Question #2 -If the 3rd night is booked thru CRO, can the reservations be linked? and finally, Question #3 - Can the dining plan be purchased for all three nights?
Thanks everyone!

It doesn't hurt to ask Member Services about getting the discounted reservation. If they let you do it, the reservations will be linked and the DDP would be for all nights.

If the cash night is through CRO, I don't think that a DDP can be added for the cash night, there is a minimum number of nights. Now, if your daughter has an AP, try booking the cash night with an AP discount, and you may be able to add the DDP for that night...but the reservatons won't be linked as they would with a reservation through Member Services.

I don't think it matters who is paying for the cash night. If you, as the member, make the reservation through MS, I think you will have no problem getting the discount.

I just called this past week to add two nights on cash to our HHI trip for next spring. We are taking my parents along and they offered to pay for the two cash nights. I told the CM what I was doing and she quoted me the member price ($225+ tax at 2012 price), but stated that the price will automatically adjust to 2013's rate when they are released. I'd already told her that my dad was paying for it so she asked if I was going to put it on his credit card. Of course, I didn't have it so I just put it on mine.

That's unusual because DVC has always stated the member must be in the villa booked with the member discount.

That's how the policy was originally stated, but they have been allowing members to get the discount even for other guests for a long time now. It was recently changed so that the cash reservation needs to be paid for when it is made though.

For our HHI trip, we've booked a 2BR so we are in the villa with them. OTOH, we are traveling next month with the extended family and we needed (2) 2BR's for our party of 15. We were able to book 2 nights on cash for both 2BR's, even though we are only staying in one of them.

Last year, when I called to make a cash reservation at HHI, the CM asked me if the reservation was for me or someone else:confused3. I thought it was a little odd that she was willing to let me book a discounted cash reservation for someone else.
