How much cash should I bring for tips on my cruise?

I know that the tips for the main dining room servers, headwaiters, and room attendants are automatically charged to your account, so I don't need cash for those.

I know that I should bring some cash to tip the porters who carry my bags on dis/embarkation days, and I should bring some cash for the servers when I order room service.

I do not plan on doing any shore excursions or shopping while we are at the port (we are just going to Nassau), so I shouldn't need any cash there.

What about when we do Palo for brunch? Can we sign for the tip to be charged to our bill, or do we need cash for that?

What about if we eat at one of the main dining rooms for breakfast or lunch, instead of at the buffet? Will we be able to sign for a tip, or do we need to bring cash?

Anything else I am forgetting?

Thanks!

Anything else I am forgetting? No

Thanks!

You can have the tip at Palo added to your onboard account.

I don't think most people tip the servers at breakfast and lunch in the MDRs. The daily gratuity is supposed to cover those meals as well as dinner. You probably won't get your serving team at the other meals, but you still don't need to tip additional there.

For porters, it is usually a dollar or two per bag. I usually tip $2-$5 for room service depending on how much we order. I think $30-$40 in cash is plenty.

Generally, tips for room service are $1 an item up to $5 per person.
Porters - $2 a bag, $5 max for 2 people
Palo, you can add the tip to the bill, or tip in cash - whatever you feel the service was worth (be aware this subject is very touchy for some people).
The tips to your dinner server cover all 3 meals. You may not have "your" servers if you each lunch in the main dining room, but the server will be someone else's and their tip is covered. Be aware the dining room servers that serve you dinner work the various other food venues for breakfast and lunch (Cabanas, poolside quick serve for example).

All that being said, tipping is entirely up to you - how much and who to tip, it's your call.

The recommended tip to your dining room servers is intended to cover their work at other meals as well. They may not serve you at other meals, but they will serve someone, and whoever does serve should get a gratuity from their dinner guests, so it evens out. The servers recognize that because the ship is "cashless," it is rare for anyone to offer a tip at breakfast or lunch.

You didn't ask about drinks, but if you buy a drink from a bar or other location, a 15% gratuity will be automatically included in the bill you pay using your Key to the World card. If you want to give a larger gratuity, you can add that to the bill/room charge. It's the same with spa treatments -- a gratuity is added, and you can increase it if you like without using cash.

If you're using a car service or shuttle before or after your cruise, you may want to tip the driver.

We've always left electronic tips. At Palo or MDRs for breakfast / lunch we add it on to the receipt at the meal. For the tipped positions we do it via the slips they leave for you to complete and return to guest services.
So, you can do it without cash if you want to. Most certainly do not have to.

We always ask the servers where the are working the next day - we enjoy having the same servers because the know s and we know them

I always take at least 25 singles and a few fives plus 10s. 300 to 400 for a 7 day cruise. I haven't been on a shorter cruise. But you can always leave the cash in the safe so I would just bring as much as you are comfortable with. I always have money left over

I found I tipped other cruise staff for extra help too. We had to flip a dinner reservation around and they went out of the way to do so for us. I tipped that person five dollars. I tipped extra to the room stewart who was covering for mine (dinner) when I got seasick on the carpet. I would have a Little extra cash for the unexpected service someone always gives on Disney cruises.

I try to bring $50 in singles. I feel I am covered for any tips needed. I have also been able to go to guest services and they changed a larger bill into singles. (room service and luggage is usually all I need them for) Enjoy your trip

If you bring larger bills, you can always get singles at the guest services desk. I usually tip a dollar or two per drink when I'm enjoying one, and after a day or two the server in the club will make sure to take good care of you. When I run out of singles, I take a $20 to guest services and have it changed. To start the week with $50 in singles is probably a good idea, and if I remember to stop at the bank on the way to the port in the morning. I know that there is a 'gratuity' added in to the cost of the drink, but the servers tend to enjoy having the cash at the time of service.

We take small bills and we tip the concierge bartender the first night, as well as the last night. We also tip all of the service staff in the concierge lounge the last night. We add cash to the auto gratuities for all of our service staff, as well as the assistant room steward, if there is one. We dine in suite for breakfast, tipping the server every morning. Due to the added service required to clean our suite, we multiply the room steward tip accordingly.

I usually bring $30 in singles $50 in fives $40 in tens and like $60 in 20s, that usually lasts me for 7 day cruise, we had about $60 left over but we were doing B2B Nassau.... on 7 night eastern I brought a lot more cash but we did private excursions that required cab fare and tips
