Cash discount vs. points

Well, we just returned from our first trip home to BCV. We had a great time, but really want to move up to a 1BR next time--ahh, the DVC add-on issue is starting to brew.

Next November, we'll be going down on Thanksgiving week and nothing would make DH happier then a day or two at AKL. I'd like to do it over a Tues or a Sat in Concierge so we can do the Sunrise Safari.

Well, we bought the points to use the points for our vacations, but does it make more sense to consider paying cash for a portion of the ressies for a trip like this? What sort of a DVC discount is there if you use cash instead of points?

Oh dear, I can just see it now: one trip under our belts and soon I'll be paying cash AND buying more points to support the addiction.

Also, I was thinking we should do the AKL at the end of the week (closer to Thanksgiving) and do either BCV or BWV earlier in the week before MK gets super crowded. . .AKL is costlier on the weekend though. . .?

Any advice/suggestions would be appreciated--my booking window starts in just a month!!

Thanks!

there is only a DVC cash discount of the DVC resorts only.

for the WDW resorts there is the discount codes - go look on the budget board or even (like this time) WDW internet site.

they use to be very picky who they would give their discount codes too. Lately they have been (in my opinion) much fairer. If you have an internet connection and you look instead of just click - everyone and anyone can get their discounts.

the AP discount codes (which if you buy the AP with a DVC discount) would also be on the budget board or here at www.mousesavers.com

depends upon you - if you don't have a problem renting to someone else and using that cash for your reservations. Go for it - you will get out cheaper. If you don't want to bother and don't want to look for or wait for the discount codes (there are no guaranteeds there will even be codes in the future) - then just use your points.

The cash price for non DVC resorts do not increase on weekends the way DVC points do for DVC resorts.
