Cash Cost for a DVC Reservation

Just wondering what one would expect to be discounted from regular CRO room rate if you needed one weekend night at a DVC and didn't want to use your points? In my hypothetical possibility of needing to do just that, I would be looking at a 2 BR at the end of a points stay at OKW in Adventure season
(54 pts if using points).

What do you find is best? AP discount or DVC discount? Or trying to find a "regular" code from disney?
thanks

DVC Members can receive a 25% cash discount on cash DVC nights, booked through Member Services. However, the discount is not always available.

AP discounts can range up to 40%, but it depends upon season and availability.

Perfect! That's exactly what I needed to know. I'll add it to my notes so that I don't forget.
Thanks!

The other difference between the DVC discount rate and the AP rate is that you should probably be able to call for the DVC rate much earlier than the AP rate. I think they typically don't release the AP rates until approx. 3 or 4 months out. So if you need to book airfare or something and want to KNOW for sure that you have a ressie I would call and check for the DVC rate as soon as possible. It's possible they can be available as far as 11 months out. Then you can wait for the AP rates to be released and call about those if & when they're released for the resort you want.

You can reserve a DVC member's discount room 11 mos. out. :wave2:

I'm not the op but I have been wondering about this also. I have been told that if you add a cash night stay to a points reservation and book that through CRO the two cannot be linked and you would have to change rooms. Is this correct or did I get confused?

That is correct....you can't link a points reservation with a cash reservation. (I guess it never hurts to talk to the CM's, but I don't think its a guarantee.)

You may or may not have to change rooms, it really depends on the types of rooms they need, and the resort. You will have to check-in again, you can request to stay in the same room (assuming it is the same room booking category) but it isn't guaranteed. Some booking categories/views are not available for cash reservations, and for those you'd definately have to move.

Thanks. We had some cash days before but booked through MS with a member discount and they linked them but I wasn't sure how it would work if the cash days were booked through CRO.

If you haven't priced out the cash cost of a 2 BR before, get ready for a shock. ;)

... although 2BR cash is much, much more "affordable" than the 2 room suite rates at the deluxe inn side....

Without a discount, it sure is expensive! About the same as renting points for the night (on a weekend!). I was keeping this as an option if flights are significantly lower coming home on Saturday, (in a 2BR) and staying Friday night at the same resort. We have 7 on the next trip, and I am paying for 6 of the flights, so just keeping my options open! An AP discount could be really helpful!

I did a cash night for one of the weekend days during my 10 day stay last May (2 bedroom at BCV). I booked through DVC, with the DVC discount. I called again about 3 weeks before check-in, and they were able to apply a higher discount rate (I don't remember why, I was just happy to be saving an extra $100). I think the cost was around $575 with taxes for my 1 night.

They were able to link the entire reservation (since it was all booked through Member Services) so I did not have to check-in/check-out. This was well worth it. I could have saved an extra $100 with my AP discount, but then I might have needed to check-in/check-out, which I was not willing to deal with.
