Casey Anthony Trial Thread #3

If I am not mistaken(I have been known to make mistakes and since there are so many facts to remember about this case, please forgive me if this turns out to be wrong.) the reason they did they DNA test on George and Lee is because they wanted to go ahead and rule out paternity JUST IN CASE it happened to be suspected later. I don't think anybody thought it to be true but in case the defense tried to claim it, they would already have results since they were doing other DNA test at the time.

I know Lee Anthony was tested after Casey said he acted inappropriate toward her and the paternity came back negative.

They were both ruled out. It's my understanding that the tests on Caylee and Casey, with George being Casey's father, ruled out George as Caylee's father.

I believe it came out when the FBI was DNA testing the skeletal remains to confirm if they were Caylee's. They had DNA from family members.

Here's a bit from an article:

"Then Baez brought up a request that she conduct a paternity test to determine if Casey’s brother Lee Anthony was Caylee’s father. Ashton objected to the question, claiming the defense was not asking it in good faith. After a sidebar, Judge Perry sent the jury out on their lunch break.
With the jury gone, the arguments continued. Seubert said she was asked to do paternity testing and read communications from special agent Nick Savage about it. Based on DNA samples, Lee Anthony was excluded as a possible father."

If you watch the opening statement, Baez gives the impression they left by the same door. Then he goes on to say that Casey went one way...which is the short way to the pool...and George went the other...which is the long way to the pool.

I must say I am a bit disappointed in you. After watching this trial for as long as you have, are you telling me you don't understand what Baez says and what he actually means are two different things? Sheesh! ;)

Don't worry though, Baez is bringing in an expert witness from Alaska who will spend the entire day testifying about distances between two points. Our heads will be spinning in circles as he draws illustrations from multiple points and calculates the rate at which it will take to get to and from.

After 7 grueling hours, Ashton will cross examine:

Ashton: If two people leave from point A at the same time and one takes the shortest route and the other takes the longer route, are you saying there is a chance the one taking the longer route will get there first"

Witness: No, I am not saying that at all. I am saying that the person taking the shortest route will always end up getting there first.

Ashton: No further questions.

*Noise in the background is Baez hitting his head against the desk again."

Baez said Casey and George searched inside the house for Caylee, then they both came outside...Casey came around toward the left side of the house, George "went that way, towards the pool". "As soon as Casey came around this corner and went back, she saw George Anthony holding Caylee in her arms. She immediately grabbed Caylee and began to cry, and cry, and cry. And shortly thereafter, George began to yell at her..." We all know what George allegedly yelled...Cindy PO's, yada yada yada. "She cried and cried and asked for her father's help. And shortly thereafter, her father did help. And it was at this moment that Casey should have been stronger; Casey should have called 911, Casey should have done the right thing, and that's what she's guilty of. She's not guilty of murder; this is not a murder case. This is not a manslaughter case. This is a sad tragic accident that snowballed out if control. Her death was covered up. Why did George do this? Why didn't HE call 911? Again, if the investigation had gone in a different direction, maybe we'd have the answers to those questions, maybe we'd have those answers, but unfortunately we don't. We've done our best, and will do our best to bring all the information to you, but that unfortunately will go unanswered."

My notes...I'm not sure what door he's saying, but I know they used the garage door and I think the left side of the house is closer to getting into the backyard; also, THE POOL is on the left in the backyard...how did George get there first, and in time to get Caylee's body OUT of the pool, by the time Casey arrived? AND...the right side of the house I think has a shed blocking the gate, and also I think the gate was kept locked. :confused3 Even if it wasn't locked...look at the aerial view of the house. That scenario just doesn't seem feasible (well, on more levels than just this).

The Anthony house, aerial view:

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=4937+...07,-81.260953&sspn=0.012071,0.027595&t=h&z=20

And Baez isn't going to offer an explanation of WHY George didn't call 911 and just offered to hide the body?? Because the prosecution can offer plenty of reasons why someone WOULDN'T do that.

I had not followed the story much until the trial began, but this tale came over as utter nonsense to me on the very first day! When I heard that opening statement I just shook my head in bewilderment -- and trusted that the jury had one iota of common sense.

My immediate thoughts on hearing it were:

If a 2 year is missing and you have a pool the very first thing you would do is check the pool. Then go check the closets and under the beds in case she was hiding. She wouldn't drown in a closet. Why run out the front door instead of out the back to pool? It would have taken several minutes to get into the pool and get Caylee out. Drowning victims sink. Having done that, any normal reaction first instinct would have been to attempt resuscitation and call 911.

It makes no sense to me at at all for George to stand there (soaking wet), yelling at his daughter about how angry her mother would be, agree to cover-up the accident, dispose of the body, and then manage to get to work on time!

Of course I have now followed the story more and watched quite a bit of the testimony. I'm even more convinced that this accidental drowning story, and George Anthony's involvement, is a load of codswallop.

No jury will swallow it, IMO. But I have been wrong before!

Is the trial done for the day?

I was wondering the same thing. Couldn't get my link to work and thought maybe it was the station or my computer.

So, what happened to stop the trial today? What did Bozo do now? :rotfl:

nice job, you just summed up the entire defense to this point.

The Judge has judicial matters

OK...just watching it again on DVR. I stopped and got a look at the mock up of the house AFTER the point where Baez talks about who went where. The house is sideways on the display...front door facing left, backyard on the right. So it does appear Baez is saying that Casey went toward the front yard, and George toward the back, and "and as soon as Casey went around this corner (in the front yard) and went back, she saw George Anthony holding Caylee in his arms..." So it was the side door they went out, not the front, and Casey went to the front of the house (and as soon as she went around the corner, she went back) and George to the back. My mistake.

Court has been in recess since noon. JBP had to attend a budget meeting for the courts.

Well if that is what he meant then yeah, not possible and really dumb to say.

:lmao: Priceless!!

But, if you see my followup post, I was wrong. I'm going to put that on my resume and apply for a job with Baez & Co. :teeth:

I agree...first thing is check the pool. We have a pool, and my kids were older (youngest 7 when we got it) and that's the first thing I'd do. Heck, I do that when I haven't seen my DH in a while!

And I made a correction...side door, not front. Don't make me keep saying I made a mistake. ;)

It does sound like, even tho Casey went to the front of the house, she immediately turned around and ran to the back, and George was already holding Caylee's body. Did she sink? Did he go IN the pool and get her? And WHO DOESN'T CALL 911 AND TRY TO SAVE A LOVED ONE??? Just does NOT make sense. If that scenario had happened WITHOUT George, than I can almost see it...Casey panicking, Casey thinking Cindy would flip on her, Casey thinking she'd end up in jail. But NOT George.

Well if that is what he meant then yeah, not possible and really dumb to say.
Nope, I was wrong. You can't see the mockup of the house well while Baez is talking...the camera view...and Baez talked about Casey going to the left of the house, and George the other way. But later in the opening statement, they show the mock up, and I can see where exactly he's talking about.

I kind of thought my original impression seemed too stupid, even for Baez. ::yes::

oh my god. he's calling Sarah Palin to tell the jury she really can see Russia from her house isn't he????

i think i'm going to puke

Hmmm, reading this again she took her child from her father then gave her back???

Nope - I don't think that was well thought out. We are supposed to believe she went from sobbing sobbing grief holding her child to the brainless fearful victim who hours later showed no grief or fear?

since we can't see the jury i dont' know how true this is if at all but bob kealing was asked a question on twitter

"a juror made a gun gesture at baez during sidebar? is that true?

bob's answer - didn't see that

hummm me thinks it's not true because is someone in teh court saw that woudn't that juror be removed?

You know people were sending Ashton cold meds in the mail, maybe we should send Baez a bottle of aspirin. At least were not being biased.

The evening before doesn't Cindy say that her and Caylee were swimming in the pool? Perhaps Casey came home during that time and Cindy quickly got out of the pool with Caylee to go jump down Casey's throat about *whatever* it was. ( I think it was about stolen credit card and/or money, but I'm not sure) According to Lee it was quite the fight and maybe no one ever noticed that the pool ladder stayed IN THE POOL that night.

That gave Caylee access when Casey and/or George weren't looking and it was the start of "an accident that snowballed...."

Casey knows letting her child drown would prove to Cindy that she was an unfit mother. She's lied for what appears to be 4+ years now and gotten away with it. She starts to "cope" with what works best for her.

George knows 2 things.
1 Cindy is his sugar momma, and would've been done with their marriage already if she didn't have to share their assets and pay him alimony. If she knew that he let Caylee drown......
2 Cindy would be beside herself if she realized that it was her that left the ladder in the pool. I know I would be.

And it starts to snow....

Yesterday Baez asked the judge to let the jury know that court is ending early is not due to the defense.:lmao:

This (bolded) , I did not know :confused3

Maybe.

I would think the animosity btwn ICA and Cindy would it would give ICA pleasure allowing her mother to suffer knowing it was her who was the worse of the two being she left that ladder down.
