man - i fell asleep

this bed rest stuff is killing me - my times are all screwed up. can't sleep at night - wake up 50 times from 12-7 but fall asleep at the drop of a hat (or during really really dull testomony)

now i have to get ready to go for a heart echogram on the baby.

oh well - i'll read all the posts on the way down but from what i have read it doesn't look like i slept through much LOL

Yesterday on HLN, they aired a clip from one of the prison phone conversationss where Lee asked Casey how she came to find Baez. She told him that she heard his name and that he was good through inmates. If I'm not mistaken, she told someone (an inmate, I think) to have Baez get in touch with her. That's how she found Baez ... while in prison. Allegedly because we all know Casey isn't the most honest person.

Right, that's what she says. Who knows. She wouldn't have been telling anyone she had contacted him before, like the blog posted suggests. But...who knows. That's the problem with lying to the extent she did...some other version comes along, and it's so easy to discount what Casey has said because she lied about almost EVERYTHING (and I say almost because MAYBE she told the truth at times).

That's the problem with lying to the extent she did...some other version comes along, and it's so easy to discount what Casey has said because she lied about almost EVERYTHING (and I say almost because MAYBE she told the truth at times).

Maybe she got his card at the Hot Body contest.

How do pathological liars keep it all straight? Maybe there will be expert testimony on that.

A federal judge in Miami has declared the death penalty in the state of FL unconstitutional this morning. The station I am watching says this could definitely impact this trial because they may be force to take the death penalty off the table.

On the other hand, the attorneys that are on the local station I am watching feel like the state never expected to get the death penalty anyway. They said a jury would never put a young, pretty, middle class, white girl to death. They feel they only put the death penalty out there so Casey would take a plea and if she didn't, it would allow the state to pick a better jury. They wanted people that were willing to have to consider the death penalty because those people will likely have less of a problem sentencing someone to life in prison without parole.

That's all I know at this point. Just repeating what I heard on the TV.

even a lier tells the truth at some point but unfortunately once you establish you ARE a lier - no one believes you.

she could stand up now and "tell the truth" and no one would believe her - doesn't matter what it is.

even if she said what anyone thinks happened and said it was really what happened people would call her a lier and change what they thought happened

the death penalty is hard to get - yes it has been given but it's only a very very small number compared to the number of cases that get life instead.

it costs a FORTUNE when someone actually does get the death penalty with all the mandatory appeals over the years

vs life in prison.

Wow, interesting. Thanks for posting that. I am pro-Death Penalty, but for extreme cases, and I don't think this is one. Plus, I think that the possibility of the jury voting for death would deter some people (like juror #4 who doesn't want to judge people) from voting guilty for fear in the end the penalty will be death.

It will be interesting to see the legal commentators discussing the ruling in light of this case.

It could very well be that she was looking into attorneys before Caylee's death, just in case she didn't get away with it, and found Baez.

That long story about how she found Baez did kind of discredit hearing it from an inmate. So, with that said, she may have heard his name from someone else (not an inmate but someone processing her?), might've stumbled upon it in a phone book, saw an ad while looking up information ... who knows! That girl has spun such a web of lies that you don't know when she *is* telling the truth!

Floridians -- does Baez do any of those DUI commercials on TV? Maybe that's where she got it from? Or, maybe she saw him or heard his name from another case that was going on at the time? You know on the news how they will interview an attorney on a case? Maybe she saw him being interviewed and the name stuck with her? It's anyone's guess.

Wow, interesting. Thanks for posting that. I am pro-Death Penalty, but for extreme cases, and I don't think this is one. Plus, I think that the possibility of the jury voting for death would deter some people (like juror #4 who doesn't want to judge people) from voting guilty for fear in the end the penalty will be death.

In the state of FL, the death penalty is a majority vote. You need 7 or more jurors to vote in favor of the death penalty instead of a unanimous decision. That is one of the reasons why this judge is declaring it unconstitutional. Most states that have the death penalty at least use a unanimous voting system.

To the best of my memory, Baez was a complete unknown. I never saw an add of any kind on tv and if I am not mistaken, I thought he had mentioned that he didn't advertise and got clients through word of mouth.

No clue if he had fliers in the holding area.
