Casey Anthony Trial Thread #3

I know what you are saying but take a look at this:

This man is second chair on her defense. I find it hard to believe that someone like CM is keeping his mouth shut. CM is very qualified for this case and most death penalty suspects don't have the likes of Mason and Sims as 2nd and 3rd chair.

Couldn't Mason have gone to Perry and made a pitch to have Baez thrown off the case if he felt he was truly jeopardizing the trial? Well, at least that is how it works on TV shows!

I think that Masons hands are tied at this point. I believe that the only person who has the power to remove Baez would be Casey herself, and she thinks he's the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Okay, got through Ashton's cross on Dr. Bock (there's an actress she reminds me of but can't recall who). I think he wins the day just by the fact that he was able to suppress 95% of his reaction to her 'dog's bury bones'.

Glad tomorrow is a half-day as I have to start laying down flooring.

You are right, but as the "primary" (for lack of a better term-I don't really know what he is called), maybe he chooses to ignore them? I dunno.

Yeah Mason is definitely qualified. Guess they just don't have much to work with.
See, THAT right there is the thing. They don't have anything to work with, except the lies she's spun. When a person is guilty, and I believe she is, maybe it's just difficult to defend a guilty person! I think where they went really wrong was trying to CREATE a defense.

And now they're saying that even if April Whalen never directly told Casey anything about her son drowning in the family pool and being found by the child's grandfather, the cell walls are paper thin (plus, they're very open, aren't they?) and if April told anyone, Casey could have easily heard it.

That ending with Bock and Ashton was priceless. :thumbsup2

I think we all will be doing a mad rush of activities tomorrow afternoon! I'm grateful for the break. Good luck with the floor!

Wht is the deal with April Whalen? Have the prosecutors announced that they will call her to testify, and if so when? I guess I missed this during the coverage today.

I finished watching "The Usual Suspects" tonight. popcorn:: Strange movie. I can see why Keyser Soze has been brought up with the Casey Anthony case. I won't say anymore in case someone has plans to watch it.

If you're offended by bad language it might not be the movie for you. The criminals for sure have potty mouths.

The Kaiser Soze comparison totally fits Casey doesn't it?

I was searching to see just what the second chair would do. Found this kind of funny:

Know Your Case

As the second chair, you are the go-to person for amassing, organizing, and presenting evidence to support your client's claim(s) or defense(s) and refute those of the adversary. To be the best right hand for the lead attorney, you have to know your case and where to find everything quickly. Your supporting team members will be your best assets in doing your job well. Delegate tasks that are more efficiently done by others, and when doing so, communicate the key theme(s) of the case to them and how their work fits with the case objectives. Hold people accountable for their work. Learn to communicate, organize, and prioritize, and work with your supporting team members, and you will be ready for trial.

Looks like Cheney needs to up his game.

If you search the thread for "April" (or Whelan or Whalen) you should get some info. (I'm tired!) At this point, they are still investigating, so at this point, no plans to call her as a witness.

Gotta watch that movie!!!

Casey is not receiving a fair trial. The defense is inadequate, and the judge is extremely biased, towards the prosecution.

BTW..Mr. Prosecutor, there ARE coyotes in Florida.

JVM show says the plant lady totally disqualified in court because as she is saying these roots grew in 2 weeks, and don't go through the bones, they have a picture up to the jury of Caylee's skull showing roots going all through it up the bottom and through the eye sockets and all over. They say all common sense would tell you that is not possible, in her words, "on what planet is that possible".

Trouble understanDing what you wrote...did they mean that it isn't possble to grow in 2 weeks?

The only plant that could possible grow at that crazy speed that I know of is bamboo.

While I think Baez is incompetent, Casey has more lawyers working for her than most indigent suspects.

I can't even begin to fathom how you can feel Perry is biased towards the prosecution. I think the judge has shown tremendous restraint and deserves a medal.

Can you elaborate more on some specific instances?

in a nut shell.

she was arrested for driving without a licence and spend about 4 or 5 days in the same jail same section and 2 or 3 cells down from Casey

and while she didn't talk to casey directly she did tell someone else (inmate) about her son who drown on boxing day 200? i forget what year.

her father ran out and found him - pulled him out - attempted cpr and called 911

stated got a phone call either thurs or friday from someone telling them about this and they started digging into it.

she let the defence know as soon as they started to find out it wasn't a fake call

As long as you're not offended by bad language I say, "Yes!", you should watch it. If you have Netflix they have it on DVD.

I think the judge is bending over backwards to ensure CA gets more than a fair trial. There were things he could have just thrown out but he is giving the defense extra time and ignoring the deadllines that were set long ago. He does not want the state to have to pay to do this again and is doing everything possible to make sure whatever decision the jury makes will stand.

DA for Baez--Casey didn't give him anything to work with...so it was an uphill battle.

But I don't think we can make the leap to an unfair trial. Part of the unfairness is caused by her. She made up a story and they are going with it. On appeal, what is she going to say: "my attorney believed my lie and didn't advise me that the jury wouldn't believe it was possible.":confused3

Exactly!

On the flip side, if her attorney was a Johnny Cochran type and the state had the bumbling attorney--I seriously doubt the state would have permitted this leniency.

In fact, the judge tries to help Baez save some face by admonishing them equally together even though the majority of errors and misconduct have occurred on the side of the Defense.

Apparently the coyote thing is fairly recent and not well known since they are not native to Florida:

I think we can all agree that the defense is lacking a smidge. It's hard NOT to be biased towards the defense after watching Baez et al at work. But I think Perry is trying not to let that interfere with Casey's defense. He has said numerous times that it wouldn't be fair to the defendant during his rulings.

I know the defense doesn't have a lot to work with, but they could at least make it LOOK like they are trying.
