In my opinion, I don't think any of this has to do with inexperience. They have a tough case to get Casey off and I think they are just doing everything they can, sleazy or not. I think they figure lets try and see what we can get away with! I don't think they are shocked at all. I also think the Baez did this knowing exactly what argument he would use if the State objected.
He is sleazy, always has been so none of this surprises me. He knows it, the State knows it and the Judge knows it. The fake self-righteousness is laughable, not even acted well. I just think they underestimated Judge Perry. He's not having any of it!
I am, however, getting tired of Baez's monologues and his, "but what about him?" defenses... He wants a trial by ambush, relishes the idea of it but he is pouting because they won't let him.
