Casey Anthony Trial Thread #3

Quick google search...Dr Werner Spitz testified for the defense in the Phil Spector trial. So is Linda Kenny Baden feeding the defense her old contacts? ;)

Hhmmm...a medical examiner died, and Dr Spitz got his job. Sounds suspicious. (J/K!!!!!!!!!!!)

I don't know which cases for sure. But I have seen him through the years during various high-profile trials. He always seems to tesify for the defense, giving opinions that contradict the more scientific, reasonable ones given by the prosecution experts. So I think his opinions can be spun to suit any defense.
Loves the spotlight. Likes to pick controversial cases. Very cocky. Feels he is the best. Always argued against any other ME's opinion. He was always right, everyone else was always wrong; or so he believed.
Ah, I see. Thanks for the info. Know-it-alls are a pet peeve of mine.

So far we know he's crotchety and doesn't remember a whole lot. I'm thinking this isn't going to go over big with the jurors. :confused3

Wonder if anything scientific has changed since MLK, JFK and Mary Jo Kopechne. ;)

He is a smart guy; obviously very well qualified. He just rubs me the wrong way. He always came across (my TV screen) as someone who would argue a red light was green before admitting that there might be another angle.

They are saying on the local news that Dr. Spitz gave a 15 minute interview 2 days ago about what he would be testifying to. That pretty much sums up what the guy is like.

Read a report that Spitz got violently vocal when confronted on the stand during the Spector trial, so Ashton should be interesting in his cross.

My feed keeps cutting out. I get about 3 words and then it skips. It is so frustrating!:headache::mad:

Can just say BLEECH to Cheney Mason???

He is like nails on a chalk board....

Yes, don't let his old man demeanor fool you. He is very passionate and very vocal. You can't shut him up. He is a very vocal individual. I am not sure how Ashton will do in this situation. The bug guy from yesterday was very inexperienced. Dr. Spitz will not be easily rattled unless something has changed with him since I have last seen one of his performances.

Popping in for a few minutes before we leave the house....what did I miss? Judge got on to Baez for not having the witness completely fill out a report or something? Jury was told what?

oh my god - for a second i thought that was caylee's skull

Oooh - Dr. Spitz brought a skull!!! Nice! I like hands-on testimony and demonstrations!!

ohhhh please don't tell me he's going to publish photos of the inside of caylee's skull

casey's starting to look uncomfortable

From http://www.trutv.com/library/crime/notorious_murders/celebrity/phil_spector/17.html regarding the Phil Spector trial:
Jackson asked Spitz how much he was being paid by the defense, and Spitz testified that his fee was $5,000 a day and that so far he had billed the defense $45,000. Jackson asked if the prospect of earning that much money could sway his opinion. Spitz said that it did not.

...Forensic pathologist Dr. Werner Spitz was called back to the stand by the prosecution to lend support to Dr. Baden's theory that Clarkson lived long enough to cough up blood onto Phil Spector. On cross-examination Deputy DA Alan Jackson asked Dr. Spitz if he agreed with Dr. Baden's theory that Clarkson's spine was only partially severed. Spitz seemed to be splitting hairs in his answers, unwilling to agree completely with Baden's view, which led to a long afternoon of contentious exchanges between Spitz and Jackson.

i wonder how long it takes the brain to decompose if left in the same situation.

6 months, water, weather, animals and there was still some left in the skull.

i don't think i want to see those pics

It should be a child's skull not an adult.

How was the skull not opened? There no tissue holding it together?
