Casey Anthony Trial Thread #3

After 22 years of having a daughter and all of her experience as a nurse, Cindy decided to look up acetone to see if it is dangerous? A mother doesn't know that acetone could be dangerous if swallowed? A nurse doesn't know this? She needs to search alcohol to find out if this will hurt her granddaughter? She needs to search all the individual ingredients in Purell to see if they are dangerous instead of just looking up Purell itself to see if it is dangerous?
I remember that email going around about Purell being dangerous to little kids who put their fingers in their mouth after application, and I searched it and immediately found an article. No need for multiple searches.

I'm hoping the jury saw what we saw. Cindy is clearly changing her story. LDB called her out.

I'm just waiting for the rebuttal. This is far from over!

What company will go along with lying about hours worked?

None.

Jean also pointed out that Cindy testified that Casey would be gone during the day, "working" at Universal. How could they computer swap if Casey wasn't even supposed to be there?

She sure did! Which brings me to another question: Do you think the prosecution has staff who watch the news shows and read the blogs to get suggestions they may have missed, gather info and see what the average person (as a juror would be) is thinking and asking?

But does the jury buy it? The pundits sure think the defense scored a possible "reasonable doubt".

If this woman goes free I'll be more disgusted that when OJ got off.

In my opinion, the reasonable doubt is only to premeditation. If the state can't prove that Casey was the one that looked up chloroform, premeditation is likely out the window. I am fine with that because I never thought Casey chloroformed Caylee to begin with. I thought that was all for her own pleasure. I also never believed Casey would get the death penalty so no biggie there for me. I don't think reasonable doubt applies yet to the actual murder.

My anger is that Cindy clearly knew what Baez was going to ask her and she was prepared. That tells me she will do anything for her daughter.

According to twitter the jurors showed zero emotion when watching Cindy's testimony. They just listened & took notes as usual.

Can the prosecution - in their closing arguments - say that Cindy changed her story and was lying on the stand to protect their daughter? Is that permissible?

I'm not sure as to your question, but I do know that the prosecution gets to present a rebuttal case after the defense rests and you'd better believe that there is already a team of investigators who are turning that former workplace of Cindy's upside down. LDB is going to figure all of this out and will bring Cindy back to the stand if she finds out she's lying. That won't be pretty but Cindy brought it on herself.

HOLY CRAP!!!

I had to go away from the computer to yell at my kids and congratulate my BIL who was on the phone with DH so I missed a buttload of testimony...

Is this witness saying the reports are screwed up and and she actually only searched for chloroform once and Myspace was 83 times!!! A clerical error!!

Holy Toledo did Baez earn his money today!!

Didn't Cindy say one dog had died and they didn't want to lose another? Hmmm

Cindy proves the apple does not fall far from the tree.

I need some of these memory enhancing drugs!

If Cindy is charged with purgery, does she immediately go to jail or will there be a hearing for that?

The only prepared defense witness to date.

This is shocking, since it goes counter to everything that is out there. Cindy has to know that this goes against her previous depositions to police. And that those depositions are publicly available. She is going to be skewered in the press.

I truly cannot believe what happened. Talk about blindsided.

I think she's lying because I remember those searches were mixed with myspace log-ins.

Although, she did say previously she was looking up chlorophyll, well I just as a test started a google search, started typing chloro and chloroform comes up before chlorophyll. That could be a reasonable mistake. Just a thought.

I still think she's lying though, and I agree with the many that said they lost all sympathy for Cindy, I certainly did.

oooooo...good point
I sure hope the juror is seeing through this as well as my fellow Disers.

I can't help but think Cindy helped her daughter either way. Either the juror will buy these statements or the jury will come off thinking Cindy is a big a liar as her daughter. This only feeds into Casey's disfunctional family defense.
Lying to try to save your daughter from death may come across as deseration but not necessarily a symptom of a family dynamic
In fairness, I think I have visited the Dis approximately 6,839 times a day since this trial started. :lmao:
:rotfl2:

I know that I leave it open all day. Isn't there a difference btwn the two?

I highly doubt she will be charged with perjury. If she had changed what she said in her deposition, the state would have whipped that out right then and there. They didn't and that tells me she didn't perjure herself.

I think she held back when she originally gave her deposition. The defense found a loop hole of questions the state failed to specifically ask Cindy during the deposition and they ran with it.

No way the state let would let this drop if they had proof. I hope I am wrong, though, and she really did perjure herself. She has done nothing but cover up for her piece of you know what daughter and she crossed the line this time, IMO.
