The thing to remember is that Caylee is not on trail. Casey is on trial and she deserves to have all testimony heard and all evidence presented before the jury decides her fate. I only hope the jury can do that.

I have watched this case from day one. I have read tons of discovery. I have been watching the trail each day. I have yet to decide my feelings as to her guilt or innocence. Of course, I am leaning one way, but I will not make up my mind until I have heard all the evidence from both sides.

The thing that amazes me about this case is the number of people who had her convicted from the day this thing went public. I totally understand that a beautiful child died. It happens all to often. I understand that none of us can relate to the way in which Casey acted after Caylee's death. It makes no sense to a normal logical mind.

The thing I don't understand is why she is hated so much more than all these other people who have committed even more heinous crimes on their own children. Since this case started, there have been several where kids have been murdered by their parents in horrible ways. They barely got a blip on the radar. I'm sorry, but setting your own child on fire seems a lot more horrible to me. The only thing I can assume is the pictures and videos of Caylee that were broadcast non-stop on local news and on network programs such as Good Morning America and Nancy Grace. Caylee was an adorable little and watching the films is heart wrenching. But, people have Casey Anthony right up there on par with Charles Manson. Throughout my life, I've seen serial killers of children get a lot more compassion than has been evident in this case.

I realize that posting on this thread without wanting to immediately string Casey up is not popular. Sorry. I prefer to wait to form my opinion and I will keep that opinion to myself. I really think people should respect the opinions of others (not referring to myself) who might post something in disagreement to the general consensus here.

I don't really wanna sidetrack this thread, but I've followed quite a few criminal cases in my life 'n I'm fairly old 'n I've never had much compassion for serial killers of chiidren. :confused3

Yikes, I think you may be alone in your opinion. Did you not hear the 911 call when Casey told the operator she waited a month to alert the cops her daughter was missing? Then lead them on a wild goose chase? :confused3

Now, this is just my opinion, but I think the one of the reasons its gotten to where it is and a big reason why I feel the way i do is her continued lying. She is not mentally incompetent like some of these other killers. She was evaluated by order of the court. Even with other killers/parents, they do eventually own up to what they did in some shape or form or have some family member come forward. But truthfully, Ive never felt much compassion for any child killers.

Casey does not and will not. It is obvious she is a liar but she has sat there for 3 years and not said a word. She waited 31 days to say anything and she would have kept on waiting if not for the car being discovered. You listen to her interviews and you just want to shake her. Not only has she likely killed her daughter but she has impeded investigations for 3 years! She continues to play poor innocent victim.

And lets not forget her parents role in all of this. This media frenzy was fed by Cindy Anthony as well as her attorney. This has been one big story of lies, contradictions and the like. And still 3 years later and we still don't know anything. Just more convoluted stories and theories.

I would have had a much different view if she wouldn't have behaved this way. That interview with police at Universal Studios is shocking. Im not sure its the crime that has people riveted but the actions of this woman that happened after the death and still continue.

We shouldn't compare Casey with others who killed their children as a result of a mental break or psychotic break etc. She is very calculating and self serving, throwing her father under the bus right now is the final straw for a lot of people that were holding out until the trial to pass judgement.

The cases I was referring to were not the result of a mental or psychotic break.

I am still waiting to determine if they are truly throwing George under the bus. I've heard a lot about him that makes him very questionable. He is not all that he seems.

I know we were instructed to keep videos for 30 days. I had plenty of times that the sheriff and detectives come in and get them for stuff.

The 30 days may be the problem since it was 30+ days before the investigation started.

I agree completely. In this country everyone is entitled to a fair trial. I think the concern comes from the fact that she might not be convicted even though the evidence proves otherwise.

I can't speak for everyone, of course, but I don't hold her in more contempt than I would the others. I think they're all sorry examples of humanity. It is incomprehensible to me how someone could treat a child the way these children have been treated. I don't think any less, or more, of CA than I do the others.

I do think that her actions have spoken volumes. As it is often said, sometimes you just recognize a duck as a duck (you know, walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, etc.).

If you could specify the other child murderers that have been cut more slack, that would be helpful.

If you have read the posts from the regulars...I will speak for myself and say I do think she's guilty.
That aside I had posted on our last thread (pre-trial) that if I had a family member missing the first place/person I would be emailing and trying to contact is Nancy Grace.
Like her or hate her. Take her as news or entertainment she stays on a story like a dog with a bone and in a society that is so filled with the missing and exploited this is one of the few ways a story stays alive and is heard nationally.

I think it is very easy to "hate" although I don't hate but feel disgust, biased and outrage at a human being that can sniff out the life of the most innocent among us and then head for a shopping mall & to buy groceries
for one of your many bed fellows.
As for the poor thing was "sexually molested" sadly 50% of women in the U.S. have been and I that the Lord killing your child is not the outcome of a sometime sad past.

Lastly, as per the last witness.....the smell.

I arrest my case & will now lay of the coffee;)

I probably heard the 911 call more than most. It has been played non-stop in the Orlando area since this case began.

I have no compassion for serial killers. Compassion may not have been the best word. I just have never seen the venom toward other cases that I see in this one. I had to watch videos over and over on the local news of people going to the Anthony's home and verbally attacking the family. Does that happen in most cases? No.

Casey is a liar. The girl has some terrible issues. I totally agree on that point. I just want to give her the benefit of the doubt until all of the facts are out.

The point of my post was not to debate her guilt or innocence. We all have the right to make up our own minds. I just think people should have a right to post a differing opinion on this thread without being treated like their opinion is ludicrous. It is their opinion.

Now, I'll step away for awhile. I realize that this is a very emotional issue and I don't want to create animosity with folks here as I value the relationship I have with people on the DIS.

Andrea Yates, she drowned her five kids, claimin' God told her to, but there was evidence she wasn't mentally stable 'n she had the lousy pathetic husband.

But she wasn't any Casey Anthony, that's for sure.

Had CA not lived around or by relatives, how many days would Caylee have been missing before anyone did or said anything as it certainly appeared that her very own mother was not going to be reporting her missing any time soon. :sad2:

I mean I live in SoCal, my family is all on the east coast …. no one would notice for a very very long time if one of my kiddos went missing as I have no relatives in the area that would question it. I could just keep lying and lying like CA did.

I think that is what has me bothered the most about CA. The fact that baby doll was missing and CA did NOTHING about it. Heck, I don't think I put my sons down until they were 3 years old … well that might be a stretch but watching that video of Caylee on her birthday was heartbreaking. I just wanted to reach through the tv and hug her tightly. :sad1:

I respect your opinion on this, Peg, but I can also see why so many people feel the way they do about her …. ::yes::

Why? Its good to have someone look at the big picture. I personally welcome it.

I will have to go back to the local news and look for them. I doubt very much that they made any type of national headlines. When I locate the links, I will post them.

Well, put me in the catergory that it's no big deal if ya disagree, I've got friends who believe OJ was innocent.

No need to do that! :upsidedow This isn't a lynch Casey thread. All sides are welcome. In fact, gives people something else to think about. I have no issue with different opinions. I love discussions!!

And truth be told, Im not emotional about it, Im extremely intrigued. I hate to use the word fascinates about murder, but maybe amazed might be a better word.

Especially this one, it's got some really bizarre aspects. ::yes::

Don't worry, I'll be back. While I'm not usually the type to debate things, I doubt I'll be able to stand back from this. It is intriguing. I find all trials very interesting and am one who actually enjoyed jury service.

Right now, I have to take my daughter to lunch. She will be leaving for England in a couple of months and be gone for a year. I'm trying to spend as much time with her as possible. In fact, I may have to tear myself away from the trial for a few days to hit the theme parks with Kendall! :goodvibes
