Casey Anthony NOT GUILTY & Sentencing Thread 6

OK, let's say you leave your child in the care of a babysitter while you go away for a weekend to attend a wedding out of state or something.

You leave on a Friday, return on Sunday night.

Something happens to your child but the babysitter does not report it. You come home and find the child gone and the babysitter making up all kinds of excuses.

Fill in the rest of the story....

Bottom line if, no matter what happened to your child, no matter WHO did something, wouldn't you want the fact that the babysitter DID NOTHING to be a felony crime? One that will enbale the courts to give out a harsh punishment?

Those juror comments didn't make sense at all.

Unless someone was doing something that would get them in trouble at the time the child accidentally died, why would it be plausible to cover an accident to make it look like murder?
It's plausible the other way around - to try to make a murder look like an accident.

The only way it is plausible to make an accident look like murder is if someone knew they were guilty of something that could get them into trouble. And, even then, if she was staging an accident to look like a murder, the physical staging is only one part - she would have had to play the part of upset mother after the child was missing.
People put more effort into looking for a lost pet than she put into looking for her child that she 'left at the nanny and the nanny must have taken her.'
Once you know the nanny is pretend, it brings up all sorts of questions about why someone would 'need' a pretend nanny and where the child actually was while she was supposed to be with this nanny.

When I read your post I could not help but think of Jon Benet, that was one of the theories in the begining. That Jon Benet was killed by accident for wetting the bed and the mom tried to make it look like a kidnap/murder. Of course we know how that case was ruined by poor police work.

Good morning all. I went to bed early last night because I found myself getting angry. Me angra=not good LOL!

Still not ok with the verdict, but its a new day. Just saw JA on Today, and he when asked if we will ever know what happened to Caylee he said no. And even if Casey does say, you can't even really believe it...

A wonderful friend of mine that I went to law school with, Attorney Michael Sorenson, lost his beautiful son Connor a few days ago in a tragic drowning incident during a river float trip in Vermont. The Sorensons' grief is unfathomable; they are bereft. Take from this what you will, but I cannot envision a parent losing a child in... an accident and not exhibiting some sort of grief. If you are a person of faith, say a prayer for the Sorenson family as they prepare for Connor's funeral tomorrow. Surely, there are no words, but there is a message...

(From the Hartford Courant):

SORENSEN, Connor M.

Connor Michael Sorensen, 10 years old, of West Hartford, passed suddenly and tragically into eternal life on June 30, 2011. Connor was a wonderful, innocent boy who loved his family, friends, coaches and teachers. His infectious spirit and love of life touched everyone who knew him. Connor lived every moment to the fullest and left an indelible impression on all who knew him. His younger sisters describe him as "the best big brother ever." He was a wonderful son, brother, grandson, nephew and cousin. As a student, a friend, a baseball player, a teammate, and a child of God, Connor gave his parents more joy, love and pride than they could ever have imagined. He made them the parents they always wanted to be. His compassionate and loving soul will be forever cherished by his family and friends.

:( OK, that's it...that did me in. :(

Ok, you killed me with that!

I am really curious what evidence the prosecution would have needed to convict this person. I mean specifically.

BTW - not just asking you but any that feel that there was no case.

Id like to hear the answer to that from people that are ok with the verdict but believe she is guilty! What made them believe in her guilt that the prosecutor's didn't bring up.

THAT'S the teacher they talked about, who was so eager to be on the jury (as were several others)? Ugh. He sounded, well...stupid, on the phone.
I thought the same.... Huh? Thats the teacher!!???

As an ex-cop he would know that there would be no reason to be afraid of an accidental drowning.
Seems like they used the ex-cop thing and applied it to other things.

Cheney Mason must've forgotten about his opinion before he joined the defense team. He used to be one of those despicable "talking heads" he was talking about today. :sad2:

I can't stand the man. I think Baez is slimy but don't I really detest Mason. Id rather watch Baez than him!

I believe JA 100%. We will never ever know the exact truth. The saddest part to me is that for 31 days that baby was somewhere in a trash bag. For 31 days her mother reverted back to her single days and had this great life. So it was an accident..ok. HOW DO YOU LIVE EVERY SINGLE DAY knowing your baby is ina trash bag somewhere..HOW DO YOU DO IT?

We will hear from Casey for sure. She will come out with an exclusive interview some time or another where we get all the details. George and Lee better run for cover. Cindy will be in OCJ for perjury so Casey will have had her last laugh there. I fully expect for the whole family to be in ruins and the mastermind out there living it up day after day after day.

Regardless, I can't get past that 911 call of Cindy's. She was frantic looking for that child. She will pay the heaviest price. OCJ will probably be a hard place for her. But she has covered for Casey all these years, it was bound to happen to her eventually. Just MHO and nothing more.

Shut the front door! Star Jones just said something I agree with!!

Murder, accident, tragic accident, it doesn't matter. That child should NEVER have been in a trash bag , thrown in a swamp!

On NBC's The Today Show, just before the Jeff Ashton piece, did anyone else hear Kerry Saunders' report? According to a letter released last year, Casey Anthony wrote that, if released from prison, she plans to get pregnant and have another baby.

Casey has been away for almost 3 years, she has no clue whats in store for her as she is sitting there thinking of her celebrity. She is in for a rude awakening once she is able to google herself and see's the hatred.

I have nothing but respect for jurors...they have a really hard job. But IMHO, Casey needs to realize, the jurors are 12 of her peers, but there are thousands of peers that are not as happy. I wonder if she thinks this will be a piece of cake. She will go out in the world on thurs and be able to spin this whole thing in such a way everyone feels sorry for her.

There is a difference in my mind in the prosecution not proving to the jury 'without a reasonable doubt' They did not say innocent as charged. Two very different things and I hope that the DT is smart enough to convey that to her. It appears there are people everywhere that understand that. In all honesty I am not one for vigilante justice, but there are some out there who do. Casey, from the looks of what is being posted on the internet, being talked about on talk shows etc, is going to be out of jail, but she was safer there.

This happened near my home. It really is a tragedy. I can't imagine going on vacation and losing my child. :sad1:

The scuttlebutt around here is that they were tubing down the river when the child's tube got caught on a tree and the water rushing around the tree sucked him under. It is also being reported that he did not have on a life jacket. The water on that river seems shallow and fairly calm, but it can still be dangerous.

I heard that. Casey likes to stick it to people, and what better way than having another baby? I think she liked the attention she got when Caylee was a baby, and she liked the attention from Caylee. And now she won't have Cindy in the way.

I also think that Casey LOVES this attention. If Baez and Mason and Mommy Sims don't reel her in, she'd be out basking in the attention, even negative attention.

And that teacher is a doofus.

Asthon Kutcher tweeted "OJ Simpson thinks this verdict is outrageous." ;)

Having another baby so she can replace the one she killed? Just like replacing an object with no longer works or breaks! That Woman does not deserve to have a uterus much less to have the blessing of a child.

She was the victim in that trial, not the defendant. Im sick of seeing her fake face all over tv.

The saddest part in all of it, for me, is that there will really be someone out there who will actually have a baby with her. Or at least engage in the process that makes a baby.

What a well-spoken guy Jesse Grund is. He said "Right now, she has everything she ever wanted...she's going to have money, she's going to have people at her doorstep asking for her, wanting her, and she's going to have that partying lifestyle that she so craved."

In a nutshell.

Let's see how this works out.

Sorry, but it seems the requirements for being a celebrity (i.e. one who is followed) are pretty low. People hate Kate Gosselin, Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, etc. but they spend good money to buy magazines with them on it.

And yes, I know what she was charged with is a serious crime and people are incensed. They were incensed about OJ as well.

I am guessing she is followed by TMZ, on the cover of People, and has her own reality show in the next year. People are stupid when it comes to who they follow. The best revenge would be for everyone to totally forget this 'person' and let her drown in her own inconsequence.

Indeed. He should feel very lucky he got away from all that.

Someone posted this on a FB thread:

Please send Jeff, Linda and Frank a thank you note and let them know they did not let Caylee down

Jeffrey L. Ashton, Linda Drane-Burdick and Frank George

State of Florida State Attorney's Office, 9th Judicial Circuit
...Address: 415 North Orange Avenue
Orlando, FL 32801

That is a nice gesture, I'm sure they are feeling pretty low today

Yes, but we know that she likes to get in bed with whoever, so it be like Caylee's Daddy, she probably didn't know who was the one.
