Casey Anthony Civil Trials Discussion

OMG! Jeff Ashton and Cheney Mason battled it out today. They only showed a brief clip of it on the news but it was intense. I wish I could see the whole thing. It was on WESH so maybe they will have it on their website. It was part of a Pace University forum in NY.

When asked about the duct tape on Caylee's mouth, CM rolled his eyes and said, "There wasn't any duct tape on her mouth"

Jeff responded with, "It wasn't over her mouth because she didn't have a mouth anymore." :scared1:

They really went at it. Jeff didn't like CM response regarding the sniff testing and said his responses were rude.

The reporter said CM criticized Baez for making sex abuse claims against GA in his opening statement.

The jury foreman was suppose to be part of the forum but she dropped out at the last minute due to safety concerns.

Ugh! I want to see the entire video!

Thanks for posting that. I'll keep my eyes open on WESH!

1) Cheney Mason didn't know what Baez was going to say in the opening statement???? How moronic a comment is that??? The WHOLE basis for her lying was supposedly that she LEARNED to lie, based on sexual abuse by George, and Mason didn't know Baez was going to say that??? OMG...I just want to slap that man silly. And if he truly didn't know (which I don't believe for a minute...he's just trying to distance himself from the statements Bozo made), then how STUPID does that make him and the whole defense team look.

2) He doesn't say that he disagrees with Baez making those statements because it was WRONG morally to accuse someone of something that had no basis in truth (except the statements of someone who seemingly never uttered a word of truth), but because they couldn't PROVE it.

3) I thought that there had to be some basis for what's said in opening statements. I know opening statements aren't "evidence" but weren't the commentators saying that there would have to be some sort of expectation of proving those statements...some sort of testimony...during the trial? So, Bozo and his band of merry jerks, KNEW from the beginning that Casey would NOT testify, and there was no other "proof", so they (yes, "they", because I don't believe for a minute that the whole defense team didn't know about and support the opening) made those statements with no intentions of offering any evidence to support it.

4) Methinks the jury foreman needs to check with mom and dad BEFORE saying he'll take part in the forum.

5) "The jury did their job"...SURELY CM would be saying that had she been found guilty, no? ;)

6) CM: Duh! I forgot we didn't let you talk to CA! And therefore, the prosecutors just ASSUMED things about CA. Yes, it was all about assumptions.

7) Oh, the drama...one reason they didn't have Casey testify was because Linda would have had her on the stand for days. How good of CM and the Defense to not trouble everyone with that. Yup, it was all about the inconvenience of that ol' LDB going at poor CA!

8) Has NO ONE smacked Mason upside the head about the irony of him *****ing about talking heads?? :confused3

9) Mason: "Casey Anthony is no different than most people her age who like to go to nightclubs." Um, CM...yes, there is a difference. MOST people her age don't A) murder their child, and then B) go to nightclubs. Comprende?

10) Why couldn't they cut CA's hair???

11) Note to CM: just because she was found "not guilty" doesn't mean she didn't murder her daughter.

And 12) I need to get back to folding clothes!

Im speechless... he makes me so :mad: Im not going to comment because you said it all really well MaryAnn!

Kurby,

You kids are beautiful!!! Congratulations!

Well, if Mason did not agree with Baez then why didnt he get himself excused from the whole ordeal and let Judge Perry know it was not right? He knew right from the start. So is he saying that statements were never made from CA that it never happend? Okay I am livid now.

Thanks! I worked hard on that rant! :lmao: I'm good like that. Laundry, not so much! :teeth:

I don't think he's saying that those statements were never said by CA (altho I firmly believe they "helped" Casey "remember" things, ie lie through her teeth), but that they weren't in a position to prove any of it, since they wouldn't (couldn't) put her on the stand and there was no other way to substantiate it. IIRC, the psychiatrists who examined her were NOT comfortable with testifying as to the likelihood that her claims of sexual abuse were true, or maybe at the point where they had spoken to her, she hadn't "remembered" (ie, she and Jose hadn't gotten the story down yet) the sexual abuse.

As far as walking out on the defense team...didn't he say at one point he joined the team because Baez was over his head? He probably felt too committed to helping poor dear CA. And I'm not sure if he could just walk away, or is it just the lead that can't? :confused3 And besides...I don't believe he didn't know, and I don't believe he thought it was REALLY a big deal if he did. He's just trying to distance himself from the flack.

I was just telling my DH about Cheney Mason allegedly not knowing that Jose was going to make those statements, and DH asked "And what's Baez up to these days?" and oh, boy, did I rant. Ended up talking about Jennifer Ford, that outspoken airhead juror, and said that I'll be in an Alzheimer Unit someday, and the one thing I'll remember is that woman's name.

You know, as unhappy as some people are that John Edwards wasn't convicted, as far as I know nobody is taking the jury to task, BECAUSE THEY OBVIOUSLY TOOK THEIR JOB SERIOUSLY AND DELIBERATED. I think we would still all feel as upset about Casey actually getting off as we did, BUT wouldn't feel as cheated and kicked in the teeth had they spent any amount of quality time DE-LIB-ER-ATING. What was it...6 - 6 with the first vote, or something like that? And then they got to "not guilty" in 11 hours, including reading and understanding (or not understanding) the jury forms? But hey...that's our jury system. Whaddya gonna do. :confused3

Per Jeff Ashton's FB page, Pace University is going to be providing him with an edited (:confused3) version of the forum and it will be posted. Will post it here if I see it.

That makes me absolutely furious. Casey is like any other young person going to nightclubs???? Yeah, EVEN IF your lies were the truth, and that sweet baby died accidentally, what normal person would then happily spent the night cuddling with her boyfriend (never mentioning the little "accident"), and then spend the next MONTH partying, and telling elaborate lies to everyone about where her daughter is? If you think that's normal, then you don't know normal.

I agree! You summed it up perfectly, Mare. It is just so infuriating.

:thumbsup2 I hope he posts it. It was a great sneak peak last night.

I know, she is just so normal. All her lies etc are all just normal behavior for a person her age..well let's just call her Sister Casey.

I thought that the jury in Florida were the worst..well here in Buffalo we just had a jury of their twins or close relatives because we had a group of jurors that let a drunk, hit and run driver off scott free except for a misdemeanor DWI where a girl was killed because they just really believed A) he didn't see her and B) the court ordered blood test taken 5 hours after the accident that showed he was still drunk could have been calibrated wrong or contaminated because that is what the defense team said. :sad2:

Kurby I remember when we were all praying for Nicole, and now, OH what a beautiful baby she is and lovely family you have. :goodvibes

I wanted to post this sad story that has a Casey A. twist. I was just listening to this heart breaking news story on local news (Orlando) about a plane crash in FL that killed a family of six from Kansas - they have found five bodies, but one of the children is missing and they are still searching the area (they think he fell out when the plane split apart) :sad1:

http://www.cfnews13.com/content/new...ticles/bn9/2012/6/7/small_plane_crash_re.html

Terrible story and so sad. The eerie Casey part was this:

"Polk Co. Sheriff Judd confirmed the plane that crashed Thursday has been used by Casey Anthony in the past.

According to Judd, a lawyer for Anthony, Todd Macaluso, at some point used the plane and Anthony has been on several flights aboard the plane.

The plane was later repossessed. The new owners were killed in the crash Thursday".

I wonder - was this the plane Casey left jail in?

Was that the guy who was a prominent Dr or something? It is just amazing who gets off and who gets convicted. That poor girl's family must be devastated. :(

Adam Kaufman was found not guilty of murdering his wife. Altho the commentators, and the jury foreman, said that it never should have been brought to trial...some believing not enough evidence of anything and some believing there was no crime at all (including everyone in the murdered woman's family)...I seem to be one of the few who think that he DID kill her, but have to concede that there wasn't solid evidence and there was lots of reasonable doubt. There are probably plenty of cases like that, but I don't believe that was the case with CA, nor the DWI above. :sad2:
Coming up to the first anniversary thought we could use a laugh

OH MY GOD. This has to be one of the funniest videos I've seen in a long time. Or I just need sleep. You be the judge

Casey dodges a bullet again. What is it with that girl's luck? That poor family, and those they left behind. :( I hope they find that little boy. :( That's just so heartbreaking. :( :( :( I'm sure CA is just delighted it wasn't her. She's going to start thinking she's invincible. Maybe that's a good thing; she'll get cocky(er) and stupid(er) and it will all catch up with her, someday.

Here's a 154 page document ( ) about the CA case, which I think was given to those attending the Trials and Error forum at Pace University on May 31. It's called Exhibit A: The Casey Anthony Trial. Haven't read it yet...I will when I have a few minutes to read 154 pages. ;)

I was looking for the Pace University forum video, but it doesn't seem to be public at this point, but I found this:

Casey Anthony Actress Replaced in TV Movie

http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20601830,00.html

And if you really want to get aggravated:

Casey Anthony verdict: Whose fault is it?

Sorry...I'm going to blame the jury. They had the option of lesser charges. They spent so little time deliberating. And a few of them spoke, and sounded like idiots. So there ya go. JMHO

And I've NEVER heard Jeff Ashton say anything derogatory about the jury. All he's said is something along the lines that the prosecution didn't give them what they wanted in order to convict her (like um, a video of the crime?). I would love to be a fly on the wall when he discussed with the other two prosecutors and his wife how he really felt about the jurors. ::yes::

I bet it comes pretty close to what we think about them. ;)

That whole article burns my butt. It totally skips, rather conveniently, that the death penalty wasn't automatic if they convicted her, and it skipped over the fact that there were other charges they could have convicted her on. Totally forgot to mention that the jury did NOT listen to instructions given them by the judge and pretty much admitted it...yet no one said boo to them about it. I stand by my original thought, which is "there were 12 total morons on that jury".

And now those 12 are joined by the jury up here in Buffalo that sound just as stupid when explaining why they found "the good decent man" not guilty of killing a young girl while texting and driving drunk. :sad2:

So, looks like Piers Morgan spoke to Casey Anthony via telephone and he will be talking about it tonight on his show, 9pm CNN. I have to record it as I'll be watching the Heat game. Wonder what little miss psycho had to say.

Thanks for the heads up! I'll record it too. I'm going to watch Dance Moms. :) Piers Morgan is also on at midnight and 3 AM tomorrow.

I just checked and I still have the Dr Drew episode where he talks with Jose Baez about his upcoming book. Aired May 14. Can't bring myself to watch it, I just want to slap that man when I see him. And honestly, I can't stand Dr Drew either...a double whammy.

OK...an ad for Piers Morgan just came on and it said that he speaks with Cheney Mason; never mentions speaking to CA. Ugh...not sure I can watch Cheney Mason...he's right up there with Jose.

I know, that irks me too about the CA jury; it's like they slept though the whole trial and instructions. And I can just about hear the orchestra swelling with Patriotic music as that, and other juries are discussed, as if there's some sort of infallibility in the American jury system. Of course I understand that "the jury has spoken", and therefore CA will forever be determined to be not guilty of the crime. However, there are those that feel that the decisions should be unquestioned, and although the jurors don't have to speak to anyone about what transpired, or about their verdicts, there needs to be a good hard look at what went wrong and just maybe, what might be wrong with how juries are chosen, and just maybe, they should take a look at professional, educated, and knowledgeable jurors. JUST SAYIN'. ::yes::

Oh, and that case in Buffalo...that good decent man needs to be harshly punished. Awful. Just awful! :(

Did anyone hear that Casey hideout spot got outed. This whole time she has been if Florida
She was in Ohio shortly after the trial, but has been FL for quite a while, at least since she had to start serving probation. There's a lot of info on this thread about where she's been and who she's been with.

Haven't seen the ad, I just saw Piers tweet it. A few people have tweeted as well. She won't be on the show but he spoke to her on the phone and he will talk about everything she said. I bet Mason orchestrated it and that's why he is on. Question is, can I really stomach Cheney? UGH UGH

I was just coming back here to say that HLN posed this on FB:

'I didn't kill my daughter... but I'm ashamed of the person that I was,' Casey Anthony tells CNN's Piers Morgan. What do you think of her statement?

I should know better than to trust an ad over you Joviroxx! LOL I swear, I should give you my phone number so you can text me updates!

Oh, and I don't believe for a minute that CA A) didn't kill her daughter and B) feels any shame about anything whatsoever. The End.
