Casey Anthony Civil Trials Discussion

I never understood how defendants could stand up in court while the verdict is being read, and not react to it. I'd be shaking like a leaf, fainting, vomiting...something! But then, *I'd* be wrongly charged and innocent. :)

I didn't realize until recently, when it was discussed InSession, how tall he is. They said he's like 6 1/2 feet tall! Can you imagine having THAT coming at you? :( :( :(

Is it just me, or does Joran have a huuuuuuge head? I've never noticed before. popcorn::
Me neither, till now. lol I had a boyfriend in HS who was 6'3" (his father 6'4") and they both had somewhat large heads now that I think about it. Sort of Herman Munster-ish. DH is 6'1"...normal head-size. :thumbsup2

M Tried to find a livestream for ya, but got a site that wasn't in English and couldn't figure out what to click.

Very nice of you! But, duh me, I forgot to check CNN...they ARE streaming it!

Honestly, I truly want to vomit after reading the crap this girl has come up with lately.

I love that she wants to fire Jose. I think it is very common for two people that are both sleazy, con artists to eventually turn on one another.

I also love that Cheney Mason could be her go-to guy that has her best interests at heart. :lmao: This is the guy who thought she was guilty in the beginning. Now he believes in her and wants what is best for her?

Sims wants out, too? :rotfl2: I guess that means she won't be allowing Casey to babysit her grandchild anymore. Oh wait, she never answered that question with a resounding yes, did she?

I think I read somewhere, can't remember where, that Jose was trying to quit but couldn't b/c you can't quit with litigation pending and he is listed as her attorney on record for her appeal. She could, however, fire him.. so who knows.

Ok, Vandersloot just looked cocky , bored and disinterested. Just a , "when can I leave" kind of look. I wish they would stop with the interpreter though, I much prefer listening directly to the speaker.

Those lawyers do what fits the situation at the moment.

Joran got 28 years, starting from his incarceration in 2010. He could ask for parole in NINE/TEN years (so, 7 years from now??). He can also earn a day off for every 2 or 3 days of work. Unbelievable. Reports that he has access to a cell phone, 42" TV, and the Internet.

His mother thinks that he committed this crime because he was wrongly accused of having something to do with Natalee Halloway...he changed after that. She must have gone to the Cindy Anthony School of Denial.

We went and saw a live production of 12 Angry Men tonight. When we got in the car, all we could talk about was how it reminded all of us of the trial and the stupid jurors. I can definitely see some of the jurors brow beating others into submission. And to top it off, one of the actors was a dead ringer for a young Jeff Ashton.

One of my favorite plays of all time! After the verdict, I kept thinking "why couldn't one or two of those jurors have stuck to their guns with their guilty vote like in Twelve Angry Men?"

Did anyone catch SNL last night? During the SNL news, they had a interview with Casey Anthony's dog. It was very funny. But then I couldn't help but hope that Casey didn't get any joy thinking that it was a good thing that she was on SNL. But unfortunately, we all know how her mind works.

What happened to the tv reports that this was prison had primitive, nasty conditions? Cell phone, TV, and internet??? :sad2:

She must have graduated with an advanced degree.

Here's an article comparing Casey and Joran, from Psychology Today. I didn't finish reading it, but wanted to pass it along.

The article is called:
Joran, Casey and Psychopathic Narcissism: A Forensic Commentary
What do Casey Anthony and Joran van der Sloot have in common?

Thanks for posting. Don't have time to read now but will later! :thumbsup2

From the article:
Defendants like Casey Anthony (now acquitted) and Joran van der Sloot (now convicted) typically tend to be so detached and dissociated from their own humanity that they are clueless as to what they really feel and how their inappropriate and selfish behavior is perceived by others. They appear to be heartless, depraved monsters devoid of all human caring and decency. Bad seeds. But behind their extremely effective facade, mask or persona, hides a hurt and angry little girl or boy running destructively amok in the big world.

While I think this is the way Casey behaved during the trial, is there any evidence that she behaved this way before Caylee was murdered? None of her friends or family described her as heartless, uncaring, or detached that I am aware of. Was she always heartless and nobody noticed until she killed her daughter or did something change on a dime and she suddenly became detached and heartless.

Someone on WS suggested reading this article about "The Dark Side of Caylee's Life" regarding Caylee's skull problem, and one doctor's opinion:

"There is evidence that she was forced over some period of time, at least several months or longer, to often be forced to lie on her back, maybe with her head restrained, maybe under sedation, maybe because she was terrorized, and maybe because she was so tired she often fell asleep in an awkward, un-natural, and forced position."

:sad1:

I truly hope that I never run into any of the Anthony's - I'm afraid I would turn into a screaming Banshee if let loose on them LOL

On a lighter note...be sure to look up Daniel Radcliffe playing Casey Anthony's dog on last night's SNL. Quite funny. :thumbsup2

On JVM:

Casey allegedly staying in Port St Lucie, FL. Has been seen out and about. Didn't someone on here think they saw her recently in FL? Who and where was that?!

The Body Talk Bar in the area has a sign saying "HEY CASEY WE ARE HIRING." It's a "gentlemen's sports bar"...right up her alley!

Per People Magazine, she's getting financial help from some of her lawyers, from CHARITIES AND CHURCHES, and that she has reconnected with Lee.

Aaarrggghhh.

DH and I were doing some shopping in Winter Park today. For those that don't know, it is a very nice walkable downtown area with plenty of shops, outdoor cafes, a park, and a lot of people on a normal day. Since it is only three days until Christmas, it was jammed. We were walking along and DH says, "Did you see that girl sitting at that table? She looks like Casey Anthony." I whip around as fast as I can, totally ignoring what was in front of me, and proceed to slam into the poor lady standing off to the side. Good thing DH and I were holding hands because he was able to yank me hard enough so I didn't take the lady down! Once we recover, apologize profusely to the old lady, I am still focused on seeing this Casey lookalike. We circle back around to this outside cafe where the girl is eating and I have to tell you it really did look like her except she was a good 50 pounds heavier. Unless Casey has been spending her down time stuffing her face, I mowed down a poor old lady for nothing.
LisaR spotted her...I should've known. lol So Winter Park isn't near Port St Lucie, but maybe she went shopping there too!
