Casey Anthony case

Was the little girl's body ever found? I'm just wondering if she's alive somewhere, maybe her mother sold her for drugs or whatever.

Yes she was. She was found where Casey used to hang out with friends, in a wooded area, less than a mile from her house.

Taxpayers.

She was declared...whatever the legal term is...for being unable to pay for her defense.

So tax dollars pay for it---but nothing outlandish. (so expert flying a lear jet to Orlando...not so much)

Indigent is the declaration for unable to pay.

That's usually not a good enough excuse to get a judge to agree to excuse an attorney so far along into a case, particularly when it is taxpayer funded & the attorney is so high profile & wealthy. I guarantee there have been filings approved for extraordinary fees. I am incredulous a judge would okay withdrawal of Linda Baden unless serious personal illness or that of an immediate relative was the reason.

Oh God I didn't know! I thought she was still just missing. I'm so sad to read this. Wow it changes a lot of my thoughts on this case.

Yes, the baby's body was found quite close to the house where Casey and her parents lived. She was wearing a T-shirt that said "Big Trouble Comes in Small Packages," and she had duct tape wrapped around her mouth. There was a heart-shaped sticker on the duct tape over her mouth. (Not to be too graphic about the condition of the body.)

I found Casey's whole story about working at Universal amazing. She invented co-workers with detailed stories about their lives, sent fake emails from her imaginary boss, and then when the police confronted her about this, she actually went with them to Universal to "take them to her office." I keep wondering what she expected to happen. Did she think that an office with her name on the door would magically appear? She was actually inside the office building with the police officers when she finally stopped and admitted that no, she didn't work there.

I just wonder what was going through her head. How did she think she would get away with this?

Listening to that police interview in the office at Universal Studios was amazing. I can't believe how long she went along with that lie!

My jaw hit the floor the other day when the case was on the news. Casey has been declared indigent, therefore everything is being paid for by the taxpayers, at the judge's discretion. Well, her lawyers are asking for big $$ for additional experts, including Kathy Reichs (the Bones lady) for Casey's defense!

This chick is so guilty it makes me crazy. And yes, she is so glib about it and thinks she's soooo smart. I just want to see her fry.

They don't think in normal "straight" lines. Look at Scott Peterson or even not so drastic, anyone remember the women who stole all that money, made up that fantastic story about being carjack and then was found in the Grand Floridian?

Now I am not an expert, i'm just regurgitating what some experts believe is typical sociopath behaviour. Sociopaths don't worry about getting away with it because they generally think any thing they do is right. They generally have a lack of "conscience".
So from what the experts say, it never entered her mind that she would "get" away with it because in her mind, she had a small problem (her kid) she took care of the problem, case closed. :confused3

Tendencies of Sociopaths

One of the main tendencies of sociopaths is the whole and sole aim to win. They will do anything to get what they want and cannot afford to loose. They are very clever and convincing with their tricks to manipulate others. The sociopathic tendencies in adults shows that they are not entangled in a web of emotions and dilemmas that any normal person goes through, but they are busy scheming and plotting ways to gain trust and then stab the unsuspecting friends and lovers in the back. They are so shy in their ways that you will never know what struck you.

They just don't feel any emotions, empathy, remorse or care for those around them. They are just good actors who can emote the emotions around them without actually feeling them emotionally.

The tendencies of a sociopath creates a havoc in their family life, professional life and even among their friends. The havoc created does not affect them a bit, but those around the sociopath. They deceive, hurt and wreak the people close to them or in contact with them. They never feel sorry or guilty about their wrong doings. They just want to take what they want, but never give back anything throughout their lives.

Oh yea, this fascinates me as well. Mainly in my current life.

People lie. Why do you think I am a cynic?;) Knew plenty of liars, cons and cheaters. Still can spot them from 50 paces. I don't know, maybe it is an intuition or an ability to read body language? I do know some of the basic body language things that you can tell if someone is lying.

Are you naive, gullible or "forgiving" aka live in denial? Some people are. They are willingly to "believe" the person because not believing is too painful.

A big one which my sister and BIL is dealing with is denial of mental illness. I find that to be a common thread. Even though it is CLEAR that a family member is mentally ill a person chooses to believe that they are "stubborn". They do not want to accept mental illness as a diagnosis for many reasons.

Those factors play into the aspects of people that are able to con others.

As far as Casey Anthony, the grandma failed her. The grandma knew her dd was messed up. She should have fought her dd to the death to protect that girl. Now she never thought her dd would go that far and kill the girl however at the same time she did not keep an eye on the girl. The grandma was watching this girl since she was a baby and that is why I say she failed her. In her heart she ignored the right thing to do.

I don't know what kind of rights you think grandparents have, but Casey had all the rights and could have refused her any contact at all. Even if Cindy called DSS, it usually takes it being too late for them to do anything, for them to do something.

Casey is a sociopath through and through. They are very good at fooling a lot of people a lot of the time. Hitler is quoted as saying "The bigger the lie and the more you repeat it, the more people will believe it" and I have found that to be true more often than not. A great book to read about people like her is "The Sociopath Next Door".

websleuths.com has lots of info on many cases, including Kyron, Zahara, etc. However like a previous poster stated, it gets really depressing reading about the horrific abuse we as a country allow to be perpetuated upon children. :sad1:

I understand what you are saying but the grandma did nothing. So I go by what was actually done and not what if's.

The Charles Stuart case here in Boston in the late 80's/early 90's is another case of a sociopath. I don't remember all the details but he had his brother bring him a gun and then he shot his wife and himself while on the way home from a lamaze class as his wife was 8 months pregnant.

He claimed they got lost and went through the bad section of town and someone robbed them. He had his brother take the wife's jewelry. He swore up and down that some black guy did it. Then one day when the police were closing in on him (I think his brother caved to police) he jumped from a high bridge; never admitting what he had done.

At first he seemed believable (especially as he was shot) but then it just unravelled. I remember thinking after he jumped that at least he saved the taxpayers the money for a trial.

When her body was found how is it that casey says no when they did not even know what was in the bag. She is only upset because she got caught. She does not grieve for her daughter in any manner. She thought she would live the beautiful life. Some day her parents eyes will be opened to the truth.

Good gosh is she in solitary? If this was a movie, the other prisoners would have killed her by now, grrr!!!

The case completely unravelled when his brother told the police Charles gave him his wife's ring and the murder weapon after the crime. That loser knew the gig was up and took the cowards way out.

What ticks me off about these sociopaths and their crimes is how many people are affected and how little they care. Another man was arrested for killing Stuart's wife and spent time in jail while he pulled his fiasco. I'm glad he's swimming with the fishes.

I found this online:
Casey is not any typical jailhouse resident. She is housed under the category of "Protective Custody Level One" in the high-security section of the Female Detention Center. "Protective Custody Level One," Orange County Corrections Public Information Officer Allen Moore tells momlogic, "should not be confused with isolation or solitary confinement. [Those terms] refer to a cell and custody status used for behavioral and disciplinary purposes and would normally involve a small windowless cell."

Casey does have a window, of sorts -- her 12.5' x 7' cell has a floor-to-ceiling clear door made of Lexan, a clear polymer-like glass. She has zero privacy and never comes in contact with the other 652 inmates who also reside in the detention unit.
