Which do you prefer Suitcases or holdals? We've always used Suitcases and bought a holdal for coming back but this year we are considering holdals for us all.

We usually have a mixture of both.

We've always gone for cases - but not the hard type - we need to squeeze in as much as we can on the return trip

Mind you I have considered buying a holdall but that's when I'm already over there shopping!!! :rotfl2:

We always take cases, on the way out we pack a smaller case and put in inside a bigger case for all the stuff we buy when we are out there!!

Definitely 'hard' cases, offer more protection.

We always go with cases - just cause we always have.
never really thought about using hodalls.
We always take a case for DD 5 with not much it so we can fill it up on the way home! :thumbsup2

Same here! :thumbsup2

we take two hard cases and a large holdall (that goes out empty and comes back full !!)

We always take our Samsonite (very secure) and IT hard sided suitcases they have the expansion zips so we can have a bit of extra room for stuff coming home but we check that it will not exceed the max size permitted for use. It's a great idea to pack one inside another just check you don't go over the baggage allowance per person and you'll be fine.
:scared1: We don't like the idea of just taking holdalls, you never know what happens to them once you check in at the airport , they are easily opened even if they are padlocked all it takes is a screwdriver to force the zip and your stuff could be gone:scared1:
Ultimately the choice is yours, just be sure you pack a few items for each member of the family across all the luggage you take in case any gets lost on route.. lost luggage is a nightmare.

We have two large hard-sided cases and two smaller soft-sided wheeled cases (for DDs). We also pack a couple of holdalls to accommodate all the extras on the journey home :)

We take a hard sided Samsonite each for our main stuff and a soft Samaonite holdall each for the extras and shopping when coming home :teeth:

Claire ;)

Currently we take one hard bodied case (for protecting delicate items if we buy any) and 3 soft bodied holdalls which are all as empty as we can make them on the outward journey. We switched to holdalls because they weigh less than the hard bodied cases.
