Hello All! I'm Caryn, a regular on the wedding boards! I had my Disney Wedding in January and in my post wedding planning slump, decided to set a new goal for myself to run Disney's Half Marathon in Jan 09. I mentioned it to my sister (Lindsay22, to be married at the WP on 4/26/2009) and we are now running the 1/2 together! I can't wait! KennerCam recommended that I read John Bingham's book "Running for Mortals" and I started it and read half of it while standing in line for 2 hours last week to vote in the Texas Primary. It's an excellent book, very inspirational, thanks Cam!
My husband thinks I'm crazy, he doesn't know why I'd even want to CONSIDER running 13 miles, but he's very supportive, coming to the park with me to run when it's dark and rubbing my feet when I get home (being a newlywed is great)!
I started a running group this past week here in Houston. I was a little nervous at first, I'm not a "runner" by any means and they separated us into three groups, those who couldn't run a mile, those who could and those who could run 3. Since I AM able to run 3, I put myself into that group...I was instantly intimidated, from that group they were going to split us into 4 sub-groups based on the pace test. I told myself that it was going to be OK if I ended up in the last group. Well, I was put into the 2nd to last group (called Fitness). I was pretty excited about that. I guess I'm not in that bad of shape after all, though the 2 mile pace test was painful, I forgot to drink water all day (oops
) and I've been
with a chest cold.
My pace time right now is 10ish minutes for a 3 mile run. I'm hoping to improve that to about 8 minutes by Jan. Today was my rest day, I ran 2m yesterday and on Wednesday as well. Tomorrow's schedule calls for 3m and I'm doing a 3m AIDS Walk on Sunday morning.
Thanks for reading! Hopefully Lindsay will chime in here soon!!!
