Carsland Without EMH Plan

Those were some of my questions too.

We're also staying in GCH and so I'm wondering what's the best way to go about getting to RSR from there? Is the hotel's entrance better than the main entrance for this?

Also, like he asked, what is the "wide right technique" people keep mentioning?

And finally, it seems the FP line is a good 45 minute wait. Would it not maybe be better to just get in line right off the bat to ride the ride?

When we go we'll have 6 days in the park and so I'm hoping maybe using one of our weekdays will give us a better chance. We have a 6 and 7 year old who want to go on it almost as much as me! ;) :lmao:

Didn't see your questions until now. I explained the wide right technique in my earlier post, see above. As far as the GCH vs. main gates, it is generally considered a better idea to go to the main gates unless you are one of the first few in line at the GCH. The reason is that there are only a couple of entrance turnstiles at the GCH while the main gate has a ton. You also have to go through bag check at the GCH, while at the main gate you will have already done so.

The FP line is not 45 minutes, it looks long but moves very fast. If you are there at opening and do not have early entry, the line ranges from 10-20 minutes. Not bad considering FP return is usually very speedy.

I like getting FPs for a few reasons: 1. only one person has to stand in line with all the tickets, so the others are free to do something else. 2. RSR is notorious for not starting at opening, so if you rush over there you run a real risk of standing in line for no reason. 3. I like riding RSR at night, so I like using my FPs at night time instead. 4. morning is a great time to do Luigi's and TSMM, so I like sending one person to get the FPs and then we meet them at exit to Luigi's and head over to TSMM, all with minimal waits!

A good rule of thumb is to be at the gates, tickets in hand, about 20 to 30 minutes before park opening.

Luigi's line climbs quickly and remains long throughout the day, your best shot is to ride it early. Grab RSR FPs and head to Luigi's. After that, hightail it to TSMM. Don't worry about Mater's, the line is manageable throughout the day, when you are ready to use your RSR FP you can catch Mater's.

Have fun!

This suggestion was a HUGE help to my planning strategy! Thanks for the tip!:thumbsup2

I'll be there next weekend with just me and my 6-year-old and in the parks Friday-Sunday Oct 12-14. Since it will be just the two of us we can't split up and send one person to the FP line nor can we do single-rider for RSR. I am staying off-property and I only have one MM day available to me and I'd like to use it. Plus, the Sunday I'm there will be the CHOC walk. I'm trying to figure out my best strategy and I'd appreciate advice.

Does Friday morning seem like my best chance to ride RSR and still have my Magic Morning at Disneyland? Or would it be better to lose my MM and go to Carsland Saturday since it will not have early admission that day and some of the APs are blocked?

If I enter Friday morning after the EE folks, should I go straight to RSR or to the FP machines? We are going to the Halloween party that night so if I get FP with a return time after the party stars I won't be able to use them. Can I just hand them to someone else if I get too late of a return time?

Thank you.

I wouldn't give up my MM since you can ride RSR without it. I would be at the gates early on Friday (20 or 30 minutes early) and would get FPs. You should have no problem getting FPs for before the party (assuming you will be heading there in the evening). I think FPs will be better for RSR since there will already be early entry people in line.

On Saturday I would do MM for Disneyland and Sunday you can get another RSR FP if you want. Have fun!

My thoughts exactly! :)

Where do you line up for RSR Fastpasses? Is the line well marked?

Okay, I am in the same situation as revwog. Staying offsite. Only have MM for Saturday at DL. Going to the MHP on Friday. I really, really wish to experience RSR at night without the 2hour standby wait. :goodvibes

How crazy would it be to enjoy MM from 7a-8:45a, then dash over to DCA to get RSR FP's? I've been trying to watch (via LINES) when RSR FP is gone. It seems to last to about 9:30a. But then I know not to count on this data as 100% accurate. Has anyone else tried this? Is it just silly to try?

When you enter the park, there are usually signs telling you where the RSR FP line is. It starts at entrance to Bug's Land and goes back past Carthay Circle and down the street of HollywoodLand. It is a roped off line. It moves pretty fast, utilizing the FP machines of It's Tough to Be a Bug.

How do you find out which days have extra magic hours? (Staying on site)

Go to the disneyland website. Under parks then event schedule. It will have the hours listed there. They alternate days between the two parks.

All FPs were gone before 10am today. DCA was so packed they extended park hours and added a 2nd WOC

It didn't seem very crowded to us. Fairly reasonable wait times for most things.

It did to us. Rides that should have been walk-one like Little Mermaid had 20-30 min wait. RSR was 150 min by time we got off at 910. Lying is and Maters was 45 mins every time we checked. Finally went over to DL and found more reasonable waits.

Really? Weird. Ariel was a walk on for us and Mater was about 25 mins, with a problem during our wait. :confused

We did EMH at 7 AM Friday only to have Racers not running. We took the advice here and road Mater's and Luigi's then got a FP for later in the day (the only day out of 4 we were successful getting FPs). Accomplished a lot around the park while everyone waited for Racers, but when it finally opened the word spread quickly so were glad we had those FPs.

What are the requirements for Single Rider. Wondering if my then 8 yr old could ride SR. I need to measure him, but I think he's currently about 49 inches tall.

I saw kids younger than mine (48") in single rider line last week.

Hi, new poster here. I have a question about using your FP's at night. Are you assuming your FP return times are at night, or do they not enforce the ending time of FP's for this ride? I know DLR is now enforcing the cutoff times on the FP's for all their rides, so does this apply to RSR?

Thanks!
