Should we use our two year old's carseat on the airplane or just buckle her in the plane seat and check her carseat? We have never flown with her before and haven't flown ourselves in 10 years. Will it be a lot of trouble lugging around her carseat in the airport? I suppose we could rent a carseat from the rental car company for our rental car. What would you do? princess:

We've always taken the car seat. You can "wear" the seat by using one of the straps over your one shoulder as you go through the airport. We've also found ways to hook the seat to the luggage using the straps.

One of the reasons we take the car seat is that the kids know that when they are in the car seat, that they stay in the car seat, no questions asked. I was always afraid that they would not want to stay in the airplane seat if they were only buckled in without the car seat.

That's my 2 cents, have a good trip!

but only one way. On the way to WDW the person in the seat in front of DD 2 put their seat all the way back and nearly crushed her little legs, actually the whole row in front of us leaned all the way back so none of us had any room. So she was uncomfortable for the rest of the flight. All of the adults in front of us refused to put their seats a bit forward so that her legs would fit. :sad2: So if she kicked him he had been warned. :rolleyes1:

On the return trip we checked her carseat and we were ALL very comfortable and slept most of the way.

I am a SAFETY FREAK so I choose to look at it this way....If I'm going to be in an accident regardless of it being in a car or a plane I want my child to be the safest she can be if it's a little bit of an inconvience!

We used car sear both ways with minimal hassle through the airport. You can either use the straps like a back pack or what we did was get one of those little carts (about $15 at Target/Walmart) and strapped all out carry on pieces and car seat to it. This made getting through the airport a lot easier. Also, on the way down the flight coincided nicely with DD naptime. She slept the whole flight while I doubt she would have slept as long if not in the car seat.

You guys are great! Thank you for all of the advice. I think we probably will take the carseat. I know she would stay in and sleep better in her own seat. We will get one of those things from Target to strap it to or carry it on our backs as someone suggested. Hopefully, we will not have any problems with the people in the seats in front of us wanting to lean back too far. :goodvibes
