My mom and I will be taking a trip to Disneyland in August and we can't wait to see Cars Land!! I will be 5 months pregnant and I was wondering if anyone happens to know if there are pregnancy ride restrictions on the new rides in Cars Land? I don't want to take chances on anything and I wondered if anyone has gone and saw the restrictions posted? Even if I can't ride the new rides, I am just excited to get to see it all! Thank you!

i can bet that the rsr would say not to ride it, im not sure about the others tho congrats and good luck

My wife wouldn't ride any of the Cars Land rides if she was pregnant. The risks are there for anything like these rides, whether there are explicit restrictions posted or not. Placental abruptions are more common that you think. Unfortunately, there hasn't been the level of education on this as with other things. It'll probably take an A-list celebrity having a perinatal loss of a child before people become educated and stop taking unnecessary risks on rides, boats, etc.

Obviously use your best judgement. Sorry to be a debbie downer.

I wouldn't ride any of the Cars Land rides since they all have height restrictions. IMO, if a newborn would be allowed to ride, you're fine, if not, don't chance it.

We haven't been there yet, so I haven't seen the rides and what they are like. I am very aware of the complications that can result and I would never ride anything I think would harm my baby. I will enjoy just being in Cars Land, Buena Vista Street, the shops and restaurants. Thanks for your input folks!

sorry you can't ride any of the rides, while honestly you probably could and be fine it's really not worth the risk which is the reason Disney states not to do it

Mater's is a fun ride, but as it whips you around (and as a friend said during the preview) it is worth the bruises, I don't think it would be appropriate during pregnancy. (I wouldn't risk it.)

Luigi's is similar to bumper tires. There is bumping of other vehicles and of the walls. Again, not appropriate. (I wouldn't risk it.)

Racer's is probably the least bumpy/jerky of the rides. Probably no different than riding in the car on the freeway. It does have a lap belt. I don't see a warning on the website. But none have any guest policies listed like most rides do.

Congratulations on the new baby. :cheer2:

RSR might be okay, but the other 2 would be definate nos.

Also remember on any ride with a seatbelt (and in your own car) to make sure the belt is down on your thighs, under the baby belly for babies safety.

Thanks everyone for all the input!! Leshaface- thank you for the link and congratulations to you! I know we will still have a wonderful time even though I won't be riding the new rides.

I'm going to go against the group with another perspective. I think this is a decision that can only be made between a woman and her doctor. Disney posts those signs to "CYA", if you know what I mean, so if there is any chance that you might even puke, there is a sign posted.
I visited a Six Flags-type park when I was about 4 months pregnant, and I talked to my MD about it before I went. She told me I could ride anything a 6 year old could ride. Which, if you look at Disney, is just about everything! So I would talk to your doctor and see what they say. So much of it depends on how healthy your pregnancy has been, how far along you are, etc. I'm a runner, so my baby had seen plenty of jolting already. But if you are aren't showing, or are barely there, you can probably do quite a lot. Talk to your doctor and see, they know your situation better than anyone!

P.S. - Forgot to add that I did end up going on several rides, like a double-loop roller coaster, with my MD's permission. Other than feeling slightly motion sick, which never bothers me otherwise, I had no ill effects. But again, I wasn't showing yet, just starting my second trimester, so it depends. My daughter shows no ill effects other than a love of coasters larger than her 3-year-old height ;)

I think that it may be safe to ride some rides for many women. I had trouble with DD5 early in the pregnancy and then I realized how fragile the babies can be. If I had gone say, a week before I starting having problems (and got put on restrictions), could I have done enough damage to terminate the pregnancy? Possibly, especially since I wouldn't have realized at that time that I was going to have problems.

Just be careful; Disney will be there next year as well.
