Based on the preview I saw last night, I think that it is possible that the Pixar winning streak may come to a halt. Whatcha think?

All good things must come to an end.

What I am wondering is maybe Disney knew this film was junk and that knowledge factored into the contract negotiations.

I remember feeling not very excited about the early trailer I saw about Finding Nemo.

It looked great, but the trailer was boring. I remember looking at my wife thinking, "Hmm...could be Pixar's first stinker?"

I was thinking exactly the same thing. Nemo didn't look at all interesting from the trailer.

I agree the trailer was not so great. Looked like something that would only appeal to pre-school boys. I wonder how much of the movie is actually finished though, it doesn't come out for another year! Hard to tell what the plot is, if any.

laceemouse,

Which movie are you referring to?
Maybe I missed a transition. Are you referring to the incredibles or cars?

The trailer didn't give us any insight into what the story (for Cars) is about. Really just a "teaser" trailer.

I feel pretty confident that there will be a story there. That doesn't mean it won't stink, just that like others have said, its a little early to write the obit.

What was that buck toothed truck's catch phrase?

I think the short prior to incredibles was worse than the trailer for cars...

The trailer for cars showed--what I didn't know--that the movie is about CARS--there are no people in it (cars were watching the NASCAR race). The race scene was boring--but the pickup and the sports car--that was a cute scene.

12-07-04 Cars Release Delayed 8 Months to June 2006:

Walt Disney Pictures and Pixar Animation Studios today announced that they are moving the release date of Pixar's upcoming animated feature film, Cars, to June 9, 2006. Release dates for major international territories have also been set for summer 2006 - France on July 12, Germany and Switzerland on July 13, the UK and Spain on July 14, Japan on July 15 and Italy on September 1.

Commenting on the announcement, Dick Cook, chairman of The Walt Disney Studios said, "The move from November 2005 to June 2006 makes perfect sense. Cars is the quintessential summer film for audiences of all ages. It has a fantastic story full of action, adventure, comedy, heartfelt emotion with cutting edge animation and incredible voice talent." Cook continued, "In the vein of Finding Nemo, we feel the movie will have legs throughout summer and beyond."

"Cars longs to be a summer movie, said Pixar CEO Steve Jobs. "We plan to finish Cars on its original schedule, and look forward to Cars and our future films benefiting by summer theatrical releases and holiday DVD releases."

Cars, the seventh animated feature film to be created by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures, is directed by Pixar's two-time Academy Award(R)-winner John Lasseter, who directed Toy Story, A Bug's Life, and Toy Story 2. A high-octane adventure comedy, Cars features the voice talents of Owen Wilson, Paul Newman and Bonnie Hunt, and has a wide assortment of cars as characters who get their kicks on Route 66. Cars is produced by Darla K. Anderson (A Bug's Life, Monsters, Inc.). Cars will be the final original film produced under Disney and Pixar's highly successful partnership.

Doesn't sound right to me. Hmmmmmmm . . . . .

I wonder if the Cars teaser trailer is Monsters/Incredibles like (meaning the content is not actually part of the film. Mr. Incredible failing to fit into his red supersuit didn't happen in the film (in fact, it fit him from day one.) Mike and Sully never accidently transported themselves to Magnolia (thinking it was Mongolia.)

Or is it Toy Story/Nemo like - actually a piece (or pieces of the film) I hope the former. I'd hate to have to sit through a bunch of racing scenes.
