Cars 2 is not very good at all!

Dopey--by reading I mean books!!

Not a 3-line Twitter about last nights date:)

I am pretty insulted how little you all think of my generation. I am 21

I just went to a used book store and bought 14 novels. I have 12 more on my nook (including all of Sherlock Holmes and H.P. Lovecraft). I reread all of the potters in the past 2 weeks and have read several other books over the course of this summer.

I admit I could read more, but I am on message boards like the DIS a lot (why aren't you all reading, you should be ashamed of yourselves) and watching stuff on the internet. But I am hardly a slacker when it comes to books. Even in school I was always about 5 grades above myself in reading level.

And I enjoyed Cars 2 a heck of a lot more than Cars. Everyone I have talked to that saw it loved it. Admittedly, it was no Up or Toy Story, but I enjoyed myself loads.

And I don't get why you are all freaking out about sequels, when Brave is coming out next year which looks amazing. I will make a wide sweeping generalization about your generations, you all complain way to much. Oh environmental messages, sequels, dang kids and their iPods and Androids, my generation is so much better than theirs.

Have fun.:hippie:

Wow. You insulted some of us that were sticking up for your generation. Oh well.

Of all you posted I want to touch on why (I think) people don't like, appreciate or are afraid of sequels. It's not because they can't be great, they can. It's because the GREEDY studios are only looking for a starting point for the money stream (built in story, built in audience, built in connection to the characters). So much so that the stories, way more often than not, just become secondary and as I've already stated, I think the studios, movie makers and guys with the imagination should all be trying their VERY best, all of the time to make the greatest movie ever (even knowing full well they probably won't succeed). For what good is an endeavor only meant to make some money or only meant to please the kids (half the audience) or only meant to be pretty good?

Saxsoon:
Get to 66 and then see how you feel about things!!!

And by the way--glad you're reading. I tend to think you are in the minority among your friends and acquaintences.

Tried any of the "classics" yet?? Old they may be, but well worth reading.

Holmes has always been a favorite of mine--Valley of Fear my favorite novel, Speckled Band my fav short story.

DVCconvert--75 eh?? That's about enough for the Facebook Stuff I see all the time --you know, things like "'I hate myself" OR '"I'm tired today" or "I can't stand work"--etc,etc

i agree...nobody else wants to hear it because they are lazy.

the internal combustion engine is BAD...we've know for quite sometime now...but we're all too lazy and spoiled to accept this.

but the truth is the truth....there are not two sides to every issue like our whacked out cable stations try to tell us.

sometimes it is black and white...not grey.

and this is about conservation and ecological responsibility...not politics. Politics is nothing more that a cover for the exchange of money for power...this issue has no room for money or power. If you don't believe it, you might just see it with your own eyes.

as far as climate change deniers...i disagree there. how many floods, tornados, cat 5 canes, F5 tornados, and states on fire do we need to see before the sauce soaks in?

sadly...too much i fear

As to the movie, it wasn't great. My kids liked it because they like Mater, but the story was a little too complicated for a 4-year-old to really follow. I had to do a lot of explaining during the movie.

As to electric cars, keep buying them! Those of us in coal mining states LOVE electric cars--where do you think the energy to charge them comes from? :thumbsup2

As to climate change, have you watched "Little Ice Age: Big Chill" on History Channel? It is a 500-600 period of history that climate changers love to ignore because it messes with their models that the climate has been consistently warming since the middle ages.

No matter what your stance is on the whole "green" thing , one thing that Pixar (and Disney, for that matter) had always maintained was the concept that "Story is the most important aspect". In this movie, story took a backseat.

I hope Lasseter and co. pays attention to the poor reviews of this movie. Fail. Try again.

I thought Cars 2 wasn't very good. It was cute, but it could have been a lot better. Compared to the 1st one, the 2nd was definetely a bust.

I was just in Europe for two weeks and they LOVE cars 2. Every little kid has a lightning McQueen shirt, DL Paris has a bunch of cars merchandise selling like hot cakes, and the adults can't get enough. I talked to one couple and they said it is one of their favorite pixar films. So I guess it's all perspective.

I know its one of my favorites now!

while i agree that cars 2 is not the best pixar movie, i don't understand how people are complaining that it is too violent, almost every major cartoon has violence, shown or implied

i hold very high hopes for brave to see where pixar really is

I agree. Example?

Bambi......

MAN....is in the forest........mother?.........mother?

I was sad Cars 2 was just blah for me.

I'm looking forward to seeing what Pixar can do with Brave.

Saw it today. I am a big disney fan, but have no desire to ever see this movie again. My 8 year old enjoyed it. My 5 year old kept asking to leave the theater.

Did you expect it to be? Pixar is dead they haven't made a good film since the merged withDisney!

Toy Story
Bugs Life
Walle
MI
Nemo
Cars 1
Incredibles

All written before Disney control!

Now they just make sequels!

Um? UP was AMAZING.
