Carrying water bottles in parks - how?

I carry all of my stuff either in my pockets or on my utility belt. Makes it easy to get on and off rides.

Thanks for the great ideas. I have been looking for a way to cut down what I carry in my fanny pack and your web belt just might do it!

One thing I add to what I carry is a small flashlight. We have a member of the family with reduced eyesight and the extra light allows them to see menus at lowly lit places.

My biggest problem is I seem to be expected to carry everything that anyone might need. This includes bandages, chap sticks, sun screens, tissues, female necessities, power glide for feet, ponchos, tylenol and assorted meds, room keys, tickets, fast passes, camera, extra cards, batteries, sometimes a video camera, flashlight, Britta bottle, reading glasses, gum, assorted hard candies, bubbles, and of course Pal Mickey!

My family loves to load me up and then take photos so they can laugh at me later!

Sounds like you need to make some utility belts for others in teh family and make them carry their own stuff!

You are so correct but I have taken the role of pack mule for so long that I suspect they will buck and kick something fierce if I load them down!

DH does carry windbreakers in a back pack when we go to Disney during colder months!

Where do you put the kitchen sink?... I say load up hubby with his carpenters belt... I bet the hammer holder could fit water, pouches could fit camera & chapstick

We just found the neatest thing to use on our next trip (two weeks away!)It is a backpack with a very small, soft cooler attached to the bottom. It really isn't much bigger than the backpack we usually carry with us (and it's has never been a problem on the rides) but now we can keep our water bottles cool too.

REI is a sports and rec store but they have an online store as well. It's at (you guessed it) rei dot com

OT but the flagship REI here in Seattle has a rockwall to climb. Very cool!

We always have a backpack with snacks, water bottles, ponchos, 1st aid stuff, etc. I usually take it on the rides with me, just put it on the floor of the ride and stick my foot through the strap or keep it on the seat beside/between us. I always keep passes, credit card, and cash in a fabric zip-close wallet that is just a bit bigger than the passes that I keep in my pocket, sometimes secured with a safety pin. Being that there is never anything truly valuable in the backpack, I have also chosen to leave the backpack in a stroller (when someone in our party has a stroller). Backpack has never disappeared, but I wouldn't recommend doing this unless you really are OK with possibly losing it and the contents.

The Kali River Rafts have a stash-spot in the middle of each raft that is big enough to hold several not-too full packs. There is a cover to theoretically keep everything dry, but that is debatable. I try to make sure that anything that could be water damaged (cameras, film, autograph books) are in zip lock bags inside the backpack, and have wrapped the pack in its own poncho sometimes!

I love this idea, but what is REI? Has anybody seen these anywhere else?

I tried looking on the Bison Designs website for a list of dealers, but couldn't find anything. I've seen the Bottle Bandit listed on a couple of other outdoor and sports sites, but there doesn't seem to be anything specific. I suspect that stores that carry a lot of outdoor recreational equipment might have them. I'm sorry I couldn't be more help.

I think I took REI for granted and assumed that the chain was everywhere. I was kind of surprised by the big blank spots on their store location map. They do have the Bottle Bandit on their online store (Bison Designs Carabiner Bottle Holder), but the shipping costs would be a mite high for a $4 water bottle holder!

After reading this thread I was inspired to make one.. I wouldn't mind spending the $5 on it, but couldn't justify spend another $7 to ship it.
It came out pretty good and thought I'd share it... only cost about $1 or less to make.

1-Rubber O-Ring I used 1 1/8" inner diameter, 1 5/15 outter diameter.
1-Clip (it looks like a rock climbing clips) 2"
1-round threaded keyring (sturdy ones not real thin)

Thread the o-ring through the keyring and clip the keyring onto the clip. You can clip it onto a bag or yourself... Also you can attach your car keys to it.


I also got a little more involved and made another one that instead of using the keyring I used a peice of nylon (like a landyard) and sewed a loop, then used matches so melt the nylon so it wouldn't frey.

I just went to Walmart to get another clip to make another one of those bottle holders and found in the sporting goods section.,.. Around where they have walking stuff...

ITs a water bottle holder w/ clip.. $2.44

Didn't bother making another one.. $2.44!!!

Any idea how well these Wal-Mart type clips work? I'm trying my best to plan so DNiece and DNephew carry their own things, and since we're going in September, water will be critical. But DH seems to think that DNephew (age 8) will manage to lauch the bottle from the holder, injuring others, and generally causing problems (he is a bit hyper). Any thoughts? I can't seem to find any kid's fanny packs which hold water, and he's way too small for an adult size.

That one looks exactly like the one I got at Walmart! minus the word Samsonite on it... I was looking for a picture to post it, but couldn't find one. If anyone is looking for it, it is in the sporting good sectio n $2.44.

I just got an Overland Messenger "Donner" bag...it has a pocket on each side specifically to hold water bottles...it's a really cute bag with lots of pockets and organzier type stuff!!!

For carrying around our "stuff" I have my Travelon messenger style bag that I love, love, love!

For our water bottle, I have a lanyard that we bought at Disneyland years ago and have been using ever since. We also buy one water bottle and share it between the four of us, so it doesn't last long enough to bother us as we are walking around and it doesn't have time to get warm.

ZoZo, how's the water at the park CSs? I know some places have the smelly water. If the water is good, I'm going to do what you do and just ask for icewater!

I find that the water from the fountains has an unpleasant taste - it's tap water (plus, depending on the time of year, it's warm). But the water you get from the restaurants is fine, plus it's cold.

I lived in Florida for a year and didn't like the taste of the tap water (bought bottled water to drink or used a Brita pitcher at home). Some people don't mind the tap water, but I didn't like it. I live in Washington state now, and drink the tap water here - it's very neutral.

I remember a post a while back that said brita make s small sport bottle size bottles with filters in them...

Don't know why that stuck in my head, and I think I remember someone mentioning it could be purchased at Target???

The bottles you refer to are called Brita Fill and Go. They have been discontinued, but if you shop around sometimes you can still find them. Check eBay.
