carrying OTC liquid meds on a plane

so we are heading to Disney in the morning, my grandson has a cold and is using over the counter Tylenol liquid and nasal spray per the nurse practioner. How do I get the liquid medicine onto the plane in my carryon?

put it in a one gallon sized clear ziplock bag and take the clear back out of your bag and put it in the tray with your shoes when going through security

My first thought was that you'd have to limit the amounts to 3 oz. and you can't use a gallon bag. Don't know if you have time yet today to do it, but you can buy small bottles that meet the TSA requirements and divvy up the liquid into a few of them. If you aren't the only one traveling with your grandson, someone else could also put a 3 oz. bottle or two in their carry-on in a Ziploc quart bag.
I'm pretty sure they won't relax the amounts any time soon, in spite of occasionally saying they might...............

As many as will fit in a one quart ziploc bag (sealed).

actually...these cold meds may fit under the medically necessary rule rather than the 311 rule. If so just place in a separate baggie, place in bin with shoes/other baggie and notify a TSA agent. I take full size contact solution all the time when I travel and never have trouble except for MCO when flying home

Medications or medically necessary liquids are exempt from the 3-1-1 rule. All you have to do is declare it to the TSA upon screening. It is not limited to prescriptions.

I can replace a lot of things if my luggage is lost or delayed.....but my contacts aren't one of them. I always carry them on. I personally bring saline for my contacts in bottles larger than 3 oz and have never had a problem. I do just put it in the clear bag for convenience and take it out of my bag for screening. But all you really have to do is declare you have any sort of medical liquid.

my sisters kids have allergies and asthma. She puts all the OTC meds, epi pen, inhaler, nebulizer in one backpack that is her carry one and declares it to the TSA at the checkpoint and has never been a problem. Seems easier to have it all in one bag and tell them up front

same way you get any liquid on board: 3.3 oz bottle in a quart sized baggie.

Wow, interesting read. I am a very frequent flyer but have just started carrying injectable medication in the form of a pen with replaceable needles. I just made two round trips to WDW with my medication and just left it in my bag and was never questioned. I guess I know better now.
