carrying meds. on a plane ?

if you have prescription meds do you put them in the security tubs with the rest of your things or do you just keep them in your pocket or just show them to the screeners and say i got these and go on thru? i'm courious cause i don't want anyone getting my happy pills.

Unless they are liquids leave them in your carry on bag. You do not have to take them out.

Keeping them in the original prescription bottle is best, but sometimes (especially mail order) the bottles could fill your entire carry on. In which case if I had a HUGE rx bottle I would take some pills out (giving myself a few extra) incase of travel delay getting home and put in a seperate container.

Another option is to get a label reprinted from your pharmacy on a smaller bottle and put the pills in that. If it is a controlled substance I would absolutely bring the pill bottle.

i only have two of the small pill bottles with the pharmacy label on them, neither would hold a roll of quarters. i had just planned to keep them in my pocket

I would throw them in your bag while going thru security. Then when you're through security put them in your pockets.... Or take them out of your pocket when you pass through security. I wouldn't leave them in my pocket because if selected for random screening they may go through them or it may take more time.

I fly all the time and keep my pills in the weekly box. They don't question prescriptions on domestic flights (except liquids). The only time I brought the bottles was when I went to India and they didn't even look at them.
