Carrying belongings through the parks

Hi everyone! I'm coming to Disney World solo in a few weeks.

I'm debating on getting a "fanny pack" (lol) or a small sling type backpack. What is everyone's preferred method of carrying things? Do they allow you to ride with a small sling-backpack? I'm looking around on Amazon for something. But I worry about leaving any bags/belongings in drop bins.

I'll have my phone, nice camera, and debit card to carry with me.

I either put my phone and wallet in my pockets or carry a small Vera Bradley cross body bag as I like the thick flat straps. The strings on the string bags bother my shoulders but my teen dd's like them so that's what they use.

Yes you can ride with a small bag, some rides have a small net or pouch in front of you to place items others you can leave the bag on. RnRC I place my bag at my feet and loop the strap around my leg.

Disney has no bins or lockers at the entrance or exit of rides like at some other parks.

I am a fanny pack or "hip bag" gal. I used to use a crossbody purse but after a couple of days it began to hurt my neck.

I love having the hip bag. Easy access and easy to take on rides.

Cargo shorts, fanny pack, or small cross body on ALL my trips, solo or with family. Bagless is my favorite. Lots of folks swear by those string backpacks, but I think they hurt to wear all day. I have that problem with the cross body bag, too, but some days I need to carry that much stuff!

I wish I could go bagless! I have the iPhone 6 and it doesn't fit in any of my jean short pockets, or any regular pockets for that matter. I don't like string backpacks either...

I have a leather backpack purse. It's a good enough size to store a couple of water bottles in. I prefer leather because the insides won't get wet on water rides.

Would this work? It looks pretty small but would give my camera a little extra padding.

I think that looks pretty good. Like you said, if you're carrying a big camera, it needs some padding and you need some padding from it! :). You can keep it on your body on many rides, or put it under your feet (strap over your knees) on most everything else. And nobody will be there to say "another picture??!?!?" ;). Have fun!!!

I have a Disney Dooney and Bourke, cross-body letter carrier bag. It's just big enough to hold a mini SPF spray, my cards and cash, my iPhone which also doubles as my camera; a small hand cream, hotel room keys and my sunglasses. I don't need anything else for a day at the parks. DH wears cargo shorts, with multiple pockets where he fits his camera/keys/wallet. We always purchase a Disney fanny pack type of bag for DS, but he wears it cross-body. He carries his autograph book in it as well as a pen and some pocket money. He also attaches a few trading pins for the day to it. Then we are all set!

Megan would you consider linking your debit card to your MB? (I think you can do that.) One less thing to carry, and potentially lose.

I didn't know I could do that, but if I can, I will for sure.

Well I'm not the expert, but I think you can use a debit card as your "Card on file" at the resort, so it seems like you could with the MB. If I'm wrong someone smarter than me will be along shortly to set me straight ;)

It depends on what I'm wearing and the weather. If it's hot I'm usually wearing a sundress, which means no pockets. If it's not going to rain (that was a joke it always rains) I just use a little dooney disney cross body for my phone, a little flip wallet that has ID, CC and some cash. I wear my reading glasses on a little lapel magnet holder, ball cap on my head, if I'm not wearing it, it hangs on my bag. If it's going to rain but just sort of misty type rain I have a mailcarrier type bag I got at AK years ago that I can fit an umbrella in, looks like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/Walt-Disney...0f5f9ea&pid=100011&rk=1&rkt=3&sd=161948301487. If it's going to be a gully washer, I have a clear plastic type raincoat like the CMs wear that has snaps and a hood with a drawstring - comes almost to my ankles. That will fit in the letter carrier or I carry a clear plastic backback pack. I don't own any cargo shorts, they don't make them for women with big enough pockets.

Used to use a fanny pack, but have moved to a small cross body bag. Both with WDW characters...of course.

It is always wise to carry an alternative method of payment, either a little case or card. There have been more times then I can count that the MB readers in the shops just don't work.

I took a string backpack (normally my gym back) the last time I went to Disney solo. Big mistake! With two bottles of water in it, the weight hurt my shoulders. For future trips, I am definitely going to look into a backpack with padded straps or at least thicker straps to spread out the weight.
