This is my third trip with my kids.
First one was dd(3yr) and ds(3 months). Dd in stroller and ds in our infant baby front carrier.
Second trip was dd(4.5yr) and ds(22 months). Both in stroller. Carrying the toddler in queues.
THis trip we will have dd(6 yr), ds(3.5 yr), and ds(20 months).
I am looking for a hip sling or carrier that is not very bulky or hot, can hold atleast 30 lb, and is easy to use.

Anyone used this one?

I looked at playtex's version, at babiesrus. It just looks like it is a lot bulkier.

Anyone have any other recommendations before I buy the first one?

I had that carrier with my 3rdDS -- it cut into my shoulder and was not comfortable for more than 15 minutes. I found this one:

I used it with my 4thDS who didn't walk until he was 20 months and 30 lbs. It was a life saver, we used it everyday! The strap cups your shoulder instead of cutting into it which makes it so much more comfortable! I used it again last month in Disney for those long lines -- now he's a runner! ;)

I still use my New Native sling with my just turned 4 year old (35 pounds) when she is sick, it just takes the pressure of my back.
I also use it every week for my 30 pound 2 1/2 year old because she wants to watch her sister in ballet class and the window is high and I am 6 months pregnant; I highly recommend this one. I LOVE it! Much better for toddlers than babies imo.

HTH!

I had the OneStepAhead version for my second DS. When my third DS was born, the model wasn't available at the time, so I bought the Playtex model. Of the two, I like the OneStepAhead version much better. It is more compact, and a lot easier to use. I have a sling, too, and of the three I still prefer the OneStepAhead model. The sling is beginning to dig on my shoulder.

I have the Ergo baby carrier and love it. My girls are almost 4 years old and I still use the carrier. What is nice about this one is that you can wear it on your back too. I can't remember the site I bought mine, but here is a site so you can see it. I know I didn't pay the price they're asking, I paid less, so do a search for a lower price if you are interested.

I have a Maya Wrap sling- and love it with my 16 month old. It can be used with older toddlers as well. I didn't like it when DD was an infant, but I'm so glad I gave it a try when she was older. It is really secure, can be worn on the side or back and is super-comfortable. I think the website is mayawrap.com. Good luck with your search:)

I would check out ebay I just purchased a custom made sling for my dd3. I was 9.99 they really have some great ones and great prices.

I loved the One Step Ahead one when DS was little. It was very compact, and I took it everywhere.
