Carrying a beer at the park....

I can play quarters until the wee hours. I can do multiple shots of Jaeger. I can try every specialty drink in the joint. I can get woozy. I can get incredibly loud. I can see double. I can throw up. I can stumble to the next bar. I can throw up again. I can win a chugging contest. I can pass out. I can wake up, then throw up, then pass out again. I can.... where was I?

Gee Rick, you just took me for a stroll down memory lane;)

Thanks for the memories.

Aaaaaahhh yes, such fond memories, eh? If only we could really remember those lovely evenings out with a clear head!

Let's not forget-Some people can be obnxious all by themselves without consuming any alcohol-(You know who you are, you mean poster you!).

Also, where did it say in the original question-"Can I walk down Main Street chugging beer? No, she was asking about WDW in general. Never did she refer just to the MK.

By the way, Natalie's Daddy, did you know that WDW has 4 theme parks, PI, many hotels-it's not just Main Street. There are kids at all of these places and drinking is allowed. Believe it or not, most kids can handle the sight of their parents having a drink! But I know many kids who would be embarrassed if their parents had a fit and went ballistic on someone in public!

Personally, I don't care if an adult is walking through any park if they serve alcohol, there is no 'designated drinking' areas, so they are not violating the rules, unless at MK.. Smoking outside of the designated smoking areas violate the rules of the park. I have a problem with that, not to mention I think that someone smoking near me violates my right to have fresh clean air, and while smokers have rights, it is easier for them to smoke elsewhere than it is for me to try and clean the air around me while waiting in line for something.

Of course, Disney could solve all this by just putting all the beverages in a non-descriptive container, then no one would really know what you're drinking, unless you were stalking them ;)

I do think it's a bit ironic that I can purchase POTC shot glasses in MK, but nothing to go in them :)

It is also amusing that people get seem to get worked up over the thought of things happening at WDW, and even get worked up while there. What ever happened to having fun? If you see something you don't want your child to see, distract them, 'hey look at the wall, the brick just smiled at me, stare at it until the drunk loonatic passes!'

darren (hoping the drunk lunatic his not him)

:) This is true and I am SO glad that you noticed this. We were never planning on visiting MK so "anyone" who was worried, can relax now.

At first I was offended by a certain person's reply, but now I just regret asking. When I was telling my DH about this before he left for work this a.m., he just looked at me and said, "I wasn't even considering drinking there." (probably too expensive!)

I have never seen my husband drunk. He drinks on the weekends and NEVER once has he ripped Mickey Mouse ears off a youngster, goosed Cinderella or used Tinkerbell as a throwing dart! :)

I say this in his defense because I never should have posted this question. I tried to word it just perectly and simply but it just looks like I will remain the board member married to the swaggering drunk in Magic Kingdom!!!

Thanks to all of you who did give me support. I would never have come back here if it wasn't for you.

Wow I wonder what would have happened if obnurse posted the question on Eurodisney board! Having grown up in a German American family/community, beer was as common as milk. (My act of rebellion was and still is to refuse to drink beer, not to keen on the taste) Getting drunk was verbotten (sp). It's all cultural, I think I remember there was quite a malestrom when Disney tried to make Eurodisney beer/wine free the first year.
Obnurse - from reading other threads I understand that not only is there beer at the other three parks, but some even enjoy tasting the beers around the World at Epcot. My brother started at Canada, but fizzled out by France. Your husband should find some enjoyable beers, and I am sure he will be joined by other good fathers who shelled out big bucks to bring the family there and deserves a few treats themselves

Have a great time.

I was carrying a beer in World Showcase a few years back, and was stopped when crossing to Future World. So I would assume it's limited to inside restaurants in Future World.

Oh, and to stay on topic, I'd have to say that I've often wondered why the one park where the adults most need a drink in is the one that doesn't offer any. I mean, come on, how else are you supposed to make it through the Country Bears?! Why do you think Chuck E. Cheese serves beer? ;)

Walt did not want alcohol in Disneyland so they do not have it in the MK either-to honor his wishes I guess. Walt drank, he just did not think the MK was a place for alcohol.

All that information ( a bit over the top, I might add) does not necessarily mean people were drinking too much, it means people got sick and people are slobs. Rowdy has nothing to do with being a slob.

It was not meant to be "over the top" Gail just answering a post. I was a little shocked myself as I had never seen anyone drunk in any Disney park or PI. I saw many drunk people at Food and Wine.

Also, don't let this deter you from posting other questions! I posted a question on the transportation board about "sneaking" vodka on so I could "swill" it during the flight (I am a very nervous flyer). I'm also a confirmed alcoholic in some peoples eyes because of that question-Oh well!

obnurse...please do not feel that way. No one here with any real intelligence would read into your question and assume that your husband was a raging drunk, and no one with any class would then proceed to ostracize you because of it. The DIS is really a great place and I would hate for you to be scared away by a few bad apples. Please do not hesitate to ask any questions. Most of us are ready and willing to provide any help we can to a fellow lover of the "Greatest Place on Earth." As in real life, the internet is a place full of all kinds of people. There is no screening process to get a username so anyone can and does post here. It should say something though that for the few totally blown out of proportion replys that were used as a soapbox to disseminate harsh personal feelings, that there were so many more good natured postings from actual genuinely interested individuals who only wanted to help you. Please keep returning to the DIS when you have any questions. :)

Ohhhhh, well said!!!!! and...so true.

further pnelson, obnurse never post on threads about concierge, or taking your kids out of school for WDW trips. The discussions can get brutal (fun, but brutal)

Jackie,
I never once thought that you were married to a "swaggering drunk at the MK". I felt your question was very well phrased and completely innocent. And....you had every right in the world to post this question and recieve decent answers (which the majority did give.). I do hope you come back often, this is a very great resource. :)

I am sure that is what you were doing, I think it just "queesed" up my tummy. :) I am truly sorry I reacted badly.

LOL, I must be too, but, I bought a bunch of SWA coupons off ebay. I bet you were told that you cannot bring it onboard and consume it there. :)

Add to that, using (God forbid!!!!) left over days on someone else's pass. That will get you into boiling oil. ;)

only heated exchanges I have seen have been 1) would you leave a 9 year old unsupervised? , 2) How much should you tip at buffets?, 3) and the "what constitutes cutting in line" threads - other then this of course - I seemed to have created a firestorm for throwing personal epithets - alas some would boil me in oil - but I don't care - I stand by what I said - drinking in that environment, especially if one has children in tow is utterly boorish - with the exception of the gentlemen that was talking about making the rounds at beers around the world with his older daughters

It is not your fault I have a sensative stomach (it is amazingly strong for the most part). And....no, I think you can pass on the night of joy. :)
