We ran across a problem with the new WDW computer system. Sometimes the KTTW cards won't be imprinted with your member status. The resorts are just now finding this out and they don't know how to fix it.

In other words, your KTTW card may indicate that you are a member or it may not. Make sure that you carry your blue DVC Member card with you.

Thanks for the heads up. We'll be down there starting Sunday.

I'm a bit of a DVC rookie, but in our 2 trips as members, I'm always trying to figure out if we need to carry those cards with us or not. While on vacation, what would you need to have those cards for?

-If you want to Pool Hop (I know only certain pools and certain times)

-Any discounts for dining or shopping

What else am I missing?

I always have my DVC Member card with me just in case. Regarding discounts, there are several in the perks book you receive at check-in. I did find out last week that Annual Passholders receive discounts at most shops including those in the parks. Also, every counter service receipt last week had a 20% discount at certain stores in every park if you made the purchase before noon each day. We used that even more than any AP or DVC discount.

I can't speak to pool hopping as I've never done it at last week was so cold that we never saw anyone in the pool and the lifeguards were wearing winter coats, hats and gloves.

Well for one thing you could be charged for internet access. Better to be safe and have it with you.

I keep our APs, TiW Card and DVC Member Card in my wallet at all times.

I checked out a couple of DVDs from the community center at BWV. My KTTW card didn't have DVC printed on it and the CM wanted to charge me for the DVDs. I showed her my member card and all was well. Checked DW's KTTW card and hers shows DVC on the card.

Our SSR cards from Saturday both show DVC on them.

According to the Front Desk, this also happened earlier today and reprinting the KTTW card doesn't fix the problem. They are going to report it to the IT department.

Not sure if this is what you're talking about, but if not I'm sure it's related. We checked into OKW on Dec 2, just after more upgrades. They had higher-ups shadowing them so that if issues arose they could call the appropriate (IT?) people. Anyway, problems (checking into CBR on the 30th, they couldn't take my giftcard for final room payment, and they had to use the old clunky hand-held machines to take an imprint of the credit card, which was kind of hilarious) galore).

Out of 8 of us, including 3 children as young as 3, everyone had DVC Room printed on their keycards EXCEPT for me. Me, the associate who had planned the whole thing and whose name was first and foremost on the reservation! It was so depressing LOL. When I realized that I was the only one, next time I was near the concierge desk I asked about it, and they said they could fix it but their card printers were down (odd). But it wasn't affecting my life, and we were leaving the 2 bedroom 4 nights later anyway...when we checked into the 1 bedroom all was well with the universe.

In the middle there, I mentioned it to someone else, and he said they'd see that a lot, where the first person listed on the reservation was the one who got "DVC" left off of their keycard. Weird!

Since some perks are related to staying using your membership, like pool hopping or TOWL access, how would carrying your member card help? There's no way to prove you are staying on points. I assume they'd give you the benefit of the doubt, but who knows?

You need your Blue DVC Member Card in order to purchase the DVC discounted AP's. Plus many of the restaurant discounts require the Blue DVC Member Card as well.

:)

Yes, and I usually put those three things PLUS my ID in my AP sleeve and keep them with me all the time at WDW. We have run into several places where we not only needed the DVC card, but also our ID to prove we were the person named there.

Sounds like my wallet and my wife's billfold when ever we are at any Disney park. It is the safiest way to be prepared.

By 'at all times', I mean 365 days a year. Granted we are less than an hour from WDW, so we could run over at any time. We just got back from NY & NJ for my employer's holiday party and I still had our APs, TiW & DVC card in my wallet while sightseeing in NYC.

Yes, mine is in my wallet at all times too, but I was just pointing out which things I remove from my wallet and carry with me to the parks in the AP sleeve. I hate taking a purse or any bag into the parks, so I travel light and go through the non-bag entry.

This would be me. :thumbsup2 Plus our guide's business card which I keep in there for sentimental reasons. ;)

I use a small zippered bag that hangs around my neck at WDW. I leave my clunky wallet in the safe.

I always carry my ID, AP, TiW, KTTW, DVC Member card, a few $ in cash and an extra CC in that, sometimes the room charging system goes down, so you need that extra CC.

I always bring mine since we collect pins...and you usually need to show your DVC card when purchasing DVC pins :yay:
