Carry On ?

I will be traveling on Southwest in Dec. with my two children.
Both will be carrying backbacks(not huge ones) and I will have a carry-on as well.
My question is, I was planning on bringing an umbrella stroller. Will that be considered one of my carry-ons?

And while I'm asking a question......
I am preg. (2nd trimester) Is it safe to go through the security scanners?
And what about video cameras? I was planning on keeping mine in my carry-on(would love to get the boys reaction in the airport) will it be "safe" going through scanners?

The stroller will be gate checked and will not count as a carryon.
Yes, it is safe to go through the scanner, if it was not safe for living beings, the security would be wearing lead vests/covers.

From a medical perspective, the scanners are safe for both you and your baby. As far as your camcorder, the machine will not harm the video tape. You may be asked to prove that it is an operating camera [asked to turn it on and eject the tape]. We encountered that request back in 1997, long before the increased awareness. I would also suggest thatyou have it out of it bag [or your carry-on bag, if that is where you are putting it]. Like a laptop, they may want you to send that through out of its case. Also remember to have your photo ID out and ready. Just be certain that you do not carry on such things as a nail clipper, an eyebrow tweezer, pocket knife [including a tiny Swiss-army knife], etc.
