Carry On Question

Does anyone know if I can pack my hair straightner in my carry on for United?
I am not sure. Thank you.

If this is an electrical device, yes you can. There are only restrictions on liquids and weapons.

Yes, it is electronic and can heat up and burn someone if plugged in.
I'm asking since I rather do my hair as soon as I leave the house and know my dh will already be packing the car before it cools and I could just hold it and throw in my carry on once cooled. I'll be leaving very early in the morning.

And from their blog 4 years ago, "The only kind of curling and straightening irons you have to be concerned with are the types that take a butane cartridge. These are only allowed in your checked baggage, as long as you only have one and a safety cover must be over the heating element. No spare cartridges are allowed. This type of iron is not permitted in your carry-on luggage.'

I'm surprised to read that you can't take butane cartridge curlers or straighteners, I have travelled to Boston, Florida, & the UK twice this year alone and always have a butane curler with me. I always take out the butane cartridge and have it separate from the curler but they always go in my carry on.

I wonder if for my next trip I will leave the butane at home and just carry the curling iron, We only ever take carry on when we travel?
