We arent going to have any checked bags and i always bring glow sticks for the kids in Disney. Has any one ever had them in a carry on? Will they let you take them or should i for go them this trip?

No jell or liquid items in carryons.
Pack in your suit case or ship to your resort.

See the TSA website:
http://www.tsa.gov/311/index.shtm

from their website:
3-1-1 for carry-ons = 3.4 ounce (100ml) bottle or less (by volume) ; 1 quart-sized, clear, plastic, zip-top bag; 1 bag per passenger placed in screening bin. One-quart bag per person limits the total liquid volume each traveler can bring. 3.4 ounce (100ml) container size is a security measure

Passengers with questions may contact the Transportation Security Administration Coordination Center at (866) 289-9673

There are people who have successfully taken them through in carryons.

I do not; if I've gotten a great bargain on them, I don't want to have that bargain tossed in the trash at security b/c it's just my luck they notice them.

They should be OK as long as they are confined to the 3-1-1 bag though, right? I doubt they are 3.4 fl oz or more.

If the size of the contents is not printed on the container, I would not bet my glow stick on getting them through.

What CPT Tripss said. This is one thing I do agree with him about. If there is no size marked on the container, it isn't allowed. HOWEVER... I do have a LOT of glow sticks in the package, and the volume IS always listed on the wrapper. Most of the sticks we have are .30 fl oz. Therefore, leave the glow sticks in the package AND put the package into your 311 baggie.

While that represents good common sense, I would not rely on TSA screeners doing math to determine if they could go through security. It's certainly possible that the glow sticks could slip through undetected or that a screener could allow them, but if you do make the attempt be prepared to have them taken and don't bother arguing unless you want to spend some extra quality time at the security checkpoint.

I personally would skip the glow sticks in carry ons just to avoid the potential for some moderate annoyance.

They don't really need to use higher math to figure out that .3 fl oz is less than 3 fl oz and therefore allowed in the baggie.

But I understand what you are saying.

I don't know how you'd fit them into your baggie, though, still in the container. I have them in tubes and I have them in a sort of thin plastic container, and neither will fit into my 311 baggies.

The first aid kit we have at work has a glow stick on it. According to the wrapper "Contents: One 6" Lightstick(4.8 mL Fluid)"

Don't know if that helps or not, but there is that. Also, the last time we flew they missed a bottle of lotion in my mom's purse that we got through accidentally.

I always pack my mineral makeup in tiny 3 gr screw together jars in a Vera Bradley cosmetic bag with travel size makeup brushes and put it in my personal item. Mascara, cleansing oil, moisturizer, sunscreen, and all other liquids, I put in a toiletry bag in my checked bag. I haven't used a 3-1-1 bag in about two years. (I have a Victoza pen with needles that I have in a quart bag to declare, but that's it). I don't want to waste any more time at security than I have to, so make a point of not wearing jewelry through security and don't pack any liquids or gels in my carry ons. Liquids all go in my checked bag and jewlery I keep in my personal item and put on after security. However, several times I've forgotten and left a travel size mascara, travel size cleansing oil, travel size eye cream, and/or a tiny lip gloss in that cosmetic bag and not once have they ever caught any of it.:rotfl:

In fact, I did carry on only a few years ago. I'm one who loves my bubble baths and bath salts after a day in the parks. Knowing I couldn't take the bubble bath, I packed a quart bag full of bath salts. However, without thinking, also packed a tiny travel size mascara, a tiny lip gloss, and three 5 gr screw together jars with eye cream, night cream, and moisturizer in them, in a packing cube just beneath the bath salts (I had originally planned to check a bag, but after everything was packed in my packing cubes and packing folder, realized I didn't need to and just forgot to take the tiny liquid items out of the packing cube:upsidedow). My bag got searched by TSA. For some reason the agent was fascinated with the bath salts. He opened the bag, smelled of them, put his little cloth wrapped wand in them and when I told him they were just bath salts and the bag was labeled as such, he got really smart and said he didn't think they were allowed, but would check with his supervisor. He called his supervisor over, who took one look at them, gave his agent a disgusted look, said they were fine and to let me go. The agent got really smart again, said he would let them go this time, but not to try to sneak them through again.:confused3 He was so concerned about my bath salts that were legal that he missed the mascara, lip gloss, and face creams that were sitting just below the bath salts.:confused3:rotfl::headache:
