Carry on question!

Hi Everyone!

I am going to TRY to do carry ons only on this trip. It is me and my 3 girls (10, 8, and 5). We all have suitcases that are the exact carry on size limits. The only thing I am wondering about are things like shampoo, soap, et cetera. We can get small bottles of hair spray (or can you take aerosol in a carry on... need to check that..) so that isn't a problem. BUT can you purchase shampoo/cond in the store at the resort? We are staying at Pop Century. I don't think I would feel right asking for all the sham/cond we would need from mousekeeping, lol. If the resort stores have the sham/cond, does anyone have any idea how much it costs?

Any BTDT ideas?

I have no problems asking for extra toiletries from the hotel. With the current baggage fees I am certain most resorts are used to the extra requests. Last year we stayed in the Beach Club and at one point we called for extra shampoo/conditioner. I thought they were going to bring us up a few containers. They literally brought us up a bag that had 15 of each item in it. They gave us so much it was crazy!

I am currently doing this for the first time too and you will be amazed what you can fit!

Get the Hefty travel toiletry bags in the travel toiletry section of target or walmart (they are around $1 and there are 7 in the box. The box is pink). THey fit so much more then regular sandwich bags!

You can have 4. You will be able to fit everything you need. Fill 2 3-ounce bottles with shampoo, 2 with conditioner, 2 with sunblock. That will only take up one bag!

Bring solids where possible, soap, deodorant, etc.


Try packing it ahead of time, you will relax as soon as you see what really fits!

Also, don't be afraid to use as much of the hotel shampoo as you want, it's complimentary!

we're just ending our 2 weeks here with only carryons....it's been great! less junk to keep track of, just buy a 4.00 bottle of shampooo in your gift shop if you really need to,or you'll get a new bottle daily anyway- plus pack a couple of 3 oz. travel sizes in a ziploc,and we packed 4 small t.pastes instead of one big one so we could put it in the bag- with 4 people that's 4 bags!

We made it with 4 carry ons---3 wheelies and a duffel, 2 backpacks, and a stroller (I am sure there was a partridge in a pear tree SOMEWHERE!). I packed the Purex detergent cloths and did laundry once, for a total of like $6 total, which was SO much cheaper than checking even one bag. The above poster was correct, Housekeeping didn't mind at all to bring extra shampoo... I even had a few extra to bring home! So, a mom and 3 girls CAN carry on and make it

They hold more because they are bigger than a sandwich bag. TSA allows you to put liquids and gels that are 3.4 ounces or less in a 1 quart size bag. The Hefty bags sold at the store are 1 quart. As stated, each passenger can have 1 bag.
