how strict is AA about having things like used can of mousse for your hair and regular size toothpaste in your carryon and also is it ok to take roll on deodorant??? I have a special mousse that I can only get here at home so I really need to take it but I dont want to deal with them telling me I cant and then end up having to throw it away at security...I will be really ticked off lol....

Everything that is a liquid or a gel or a paste must be 3.5 ounces or less. It isn't AA, or Delta, or USAir. It is Security. You will not get past security without having your luggage searched and those things discarded. I found some mousse, hair products, toothpaste, small deodorants, etc in small containers at Target. It may not be the product you like but its carryon size. You must have all of your liquids, etc in a 1 quart clear, zip lock bag, and hand carry them through security.

AA doesn't care; as DawnCt1 states - the TSA will not let you bring those items through security.

The containers themselves must be no larger than 100ml/3.4 ounces. It's not the TSA's job to determine how much content remains in a larger container. If your can of mousse is 6 ounces, they don't care if you have one spritz left - out it goes. If your 7.2 ounce tube of toothpaste has one toothbrush-worth dollop left in it, doesn't matter. Out it goes.

If you don't want to deal with having your toiletries and other liquids/pastes/gels discarded at security, either transport them in your checked luggage, or read and follow the restrictions and advice at www.tsa.gov - or both.

Easiest thing: Put it (carefully packed) in your checked bags. Options: sample sizes, or buy it when you get there.:)

Most drug stores have a "travel section" with a bunch of stuff you can take thats under 3 oz

We just returned from a cruise...too cheap to pay the $25 for an extra bag on Delta so we checked 4 bags and carried on 2 small weekender bags. Our bags were stopped as we went through security. Turns out my hair products were mistakenly put in the wrong suitcase!:scared: So...they threw away $40 worth of brand new hair products! YEP...I know...checking the bag would have been cheaper!

I watch a guy at SAT today have at least 4 bottles of products thrown out today. Shampoo, hair gel, toothpaste, shaving cream....

It still amazes me that people don't know the new regulations.

Like others have said, it is TSA not the airlines and I think they LIKE to toss your stuff.

Please follow the rules before you get to security.

Frankly, I am so tired of getting behind people at security who are upset their water, toothpaste, nail polish remover, whatever, is being taken away. Read the rules, people. I have a plane to catch!
