Carry on drinks

It could be argued that it is a Malt based beer with Margarita flavoring and lime. In that respect, it is a margarita flavored light beer with lime. Which falls into the category of beer. :)

I say go for it and bring a six pack. If they say no go, then you are out a few bucks, but if it is allowed you have a nice refreshing treat on board.

Have a great cruise.

I would say the Bud-a-rita is definitely a "beer product", no question. The cans are less than 12 oz though, so you aren't really maximizing this BYOB benefit on a per-oz basis. But hey, if that's what you enjoy and want to drink onboard, go for it!

Hey! Thanks! Good point. It isn't like I would be out much, and if they allow it, then all is well. If they don't, it is OK. I don't drink alcohol much, so I would be ok without it.

This is a situation where I suspect you are going to have inconsistent results. If you have screeners who have an ounce of common sense or are completely clueless, it likely will get through and on board. If you have a screener who is alert enough to find it but not smart enough to recognize that it is a brewed malt beverage like beer, they may very well not allow it through.

My suggestion is that you should try to get it on board only if you are willing to leave it behind without an argument (and recognizing that will limit what quantities of obviously allowable wine/beer you can bring). If you don't want to use your allotment on something that might not make it on board or are likely to throw a fit if it is not allowed, leave it at home.

Another chiming in with "it's beer". Malt based beverages are malt based beverages.

Depends on the screener.
