Do I really need to pack clothes and cosmetics in a carry on bag in case luggage doesn't arrive on time for dinner? Right now we have the late dinner seating, we are on a waiting list for early dinner seating but I do not really want to carry around a carry on bag with clothes for three people, etc. while exploring the ship. We are going to wear our bathing suits under our clothes in case we decide to swim. What are the chances that if I have the early seating that my bags won't arrive on time? Thanks, Jeneen.... P.S. Only have three weeks to go to my cruise....... So excited!

I doubt you will have a problem but it has happened!

If it's dinner time and you do not have your bags, you'll just go to dinner as it! People have done it before on the 1st night and you would really have no choice........unless you want to carry all that with you before getting in your cabin!

What most people do is when they get on the ship, grab something to eat and then drop their bag off in there room. Most of the host/hostess's will let you do that. However you wont be able to go in the room until its cleaned.:)

Have a great cruise!!

Our dd's suitcase was missing until after our late seating on June 12th. All our other 6 lugguage pieces arrived before our late seating.

Hope this helps!

Our luggage did not get there until St. Maarten (Tuesday). Bring it along, the worst that will happen is that you will have to carry it for a little while, then you can leave it in your stateroom. Maybe plan to your attire so you won't have so much to carry - have the ladies wear sundresses to board, the guys in khaki pants or shirts that would be appropriate for dinner.

BTW, on our first night, I wore a pink tank top and skort to dinner. The kids wore sundresses and DH wore jeans and a t-shirt. We wore what we had, DCL cleaned our clothes every night. Our servers had no trouble recognizing us. We didn't let it bother us. We had a great time anyway.

We've never brought a change of clothes for the 1st night's dinner whether we've had early or late seating on ANY cruiseline. Most of the time (sure there are exceptions) you usually get your luggage before the lifeboat drill or shortly after. The first night is pretty casual on any cruiseline knowing that people may not have all of their luggage yet and I wouldn't even stress about it. Another idea is to pack some of your clothes in each suitcase so that if one suitcase arrives before the others you WOULD have a change of clothes in them even if all of the luggage hadn't arrived yet.

When we were on the 5-1 Eastern we were not able to get into our cabins until 1 pm no matter what! They had the hallway entrances blocked off and while we probably could have opened it and walked down the hall I figure they do it for a reason so we carried our bags with us for about an hour before we could drop them off in our room. I was glad that our bags were fairly light because they did get cumbersome and annoying for that hour we had to drag them around.

I'd do whatever makes you the most comfortable and go from there..it is YOUR vacation!
