I don't know if it's unsubstantiated. It has some logic and seems to be the only alternative for having 40-50 stitches in the face.

Why does there need to be an alternative? She said what happened.

Because some people aren't buying what she said happened. She said a fall caused her to get 40-50 stitches in the face, yet just a couple weeks later there is a photo of her that doesn't seem to show any of that. The wording of her post also was peculiar to some which led people to believe there was more to the story. So, when thinking about what else it could be, the most logical alternative is plastic surgery of some kind. What else would it be if not what she said? I also think another medical diagnosis is plausible as well, but I hope it's not that for her sake.

GORGEOUS natural features and garden!!!! But oooooh I can totally see how falling off your porch (or anywhere really) in that place could do some SERIOUS damage!!!!

My Grandma has fallen off her very-similarly designed porch a number of times at her place in TN, and yeahhhhhh plastic surgery and stitches and PT await... UGH I feel for Ms. Underwood!

I saw that picture today too. Not that this is any of my business, but Carrie Underwood is infinitely more fascinating than the boring project I should be doing at work.

With that, I don't know why she posted that picture and comment yesterday since she doesn't look any worse for the injury and/or having 40-50 stitches. She didn't actually say they were on her face, just that she might look different. Unless she's really insecure, she should have figured out that she looks the same. Maybe she had the stitches in her mouth? Maybe she wanted publicity? No idea.

Back to boring project ..

I had skin cancer removed from the side of my nose a few years ago. There were many stitches on my nose and face, but if I turned a certain way I could hide it from people.

To me, my face still looks different. My nose has a small bump and my nostrils are different sizes. DD15 and DH tell me whenever I ask that they don't see a difference, I ask for brutal honesty and they tell me the truth. In her eyes, she will forever look different, even if she does have plastic surgery to "fix" things even more and we can't tell the difference.

A coworker awoke one night with a leg cramp. She jumped out of bed to walk it off and fell backward, breaking both wrists and two vertebrae in her lower spine. It has been life altering.

That sounds horrible for your co-worker! How awful. And yes, exactly as I said... some people don't buy it. I was just simply pointing out the other stories that are out there. If everything in her account added up, there wouldn't be so many rumors floating around.

As a runner I can vouch for this. I fell three years ago bruised my sternum, had two black eyes and a swollen lip. I looked like someone beat the crap out of me. I fell in September and broke my foot. I've been running for 25 years I've probably taken 5 or 6 good falls. My 13 year old just fell getting out of the shower and sprained his wrist. It's swollen and bruised. Freak accidents happen. If your athletic they happen even more.

I heard about the fall when it happened in November (her wrist) and recently read that she wanted people to know she may look different when they see her due to the stitches. She said she has not made any public appearances since the fall to give her time to heal. I believe her story. She was hoping her face would heal before she had to make any public appearances. I think she didn't really want anyone to know she had so many stitches but it leaked out. As much of a star as she is I believe she is a private person underneath and didn't want the scrutiny which happened anyway.

I get the speculating about her having plastic surgery, alot of celebrities do it and want to keep it quiet. I don't think that is what happened to her, but I get why some people may be thinking that.
The whole husband cheating and her getting falling down drunk because of that just pushes normal speculation into tabloid gossip IMO. Who comes up with this stuff anyway?

I think almost all celebrities aren't going to be open about some of their most private moments, not that they should be obligated to.

However, most of the stuff you see in People or on most entertainment shows are released via their respective publicists. When negative stuff happens, that's when stuff starts appearing on sites like TMZ.
