Carribean vs. Port Orleans Riverside

We will be coming to Disney in September with our two boys ages 6 and 3. We want to try one of the Moderate resorts. Can anyone recommend one over the other? We like the look of the Carribean, but I have read that it is very spread out? Some friends of ours will be at POR part of the time, so we're wondering if we should stay there? Please note any advantages to either resort with regard to location and amenities for little ones. Thanks!
