Carribean Beach

Here is the web site for the College Program. I will be in Disney from Sunday till Friday. I fly down next Saturday to MCO then drive to Melbourne where my oldest just built a house. Then on Sunday back to WDW where I will be until Friday. I fly home for my baby's graduation Friday evening.

I am in the process of trying to get the house cleaned so I can put it on the market. Now that my kids are out of High School I want to move to Florida. Of course I want to settle somewhere in the Orlando area.

I went to WDW in Feb. for just the weekend. It was 75 and beautiful down there. I stepped off the plane at PIT to snow and 22 degrees. I want to just stay on the plane and go back.

If you have any questions just ask away. I love to talk Disney.

We just got back from our 5 day stay at the CBR yesterday and had a great time. We love the resort feel better then staying at a deluxe hotel like the AKL. We also love the convenient self-parking.

We stayed on a second floor Jamaica room in building 46. We requested more towels, more cups, iron/ironing board and hair dryer and they were delivered within minutes. We tip daily and had towel animals and a "Welcome Home" card waiting for us after our first day.

However, there were some things we felt could have been improved or old things that should be restored from past visits mostly at Old Port Royale:

1) Warm pancake syrup (They used to have this at Old Port Royale)
2) Coffee cream dispenser (Also discontinued. They now only have those awful CoffeeMate creamer things which you have to open individually and pour into your cup)
3) Coffee! (They still have that barely drinkable NesCafe. I think Nestles owns Gevalia. That would be a GREAT option).
4) Tasteless Fruitcups - In Florida! I live in NYC and can get better tasting melons/fruitcups on any street corner!
5) What happend to the music on the island to Old Port Royale? We missed the gentle caribbean music on our walks across the island.

Coffee Lover's Tip: There is a coffee machine in the room so bring your own coffee from home and make it in your room.

BTW, the new refillable mugs they started selling this Monday are much more fun with a Mickey/Minnie/Goofy in a Caribbean setting motif.

Bruce, I agree about the pancake syrup. I didn't find the coffee bad but I don't like the creamers. Someone mentioned if you ask they have milk or half and half for your coffee. I didn't try the fruit cups this trip.

Not sure when they took the music off the island. Also liked the island when they had the parrots on there.

Wow, when we left on Saturday they were still selling the ones with the Little Mermaid theme. Guess that gives me another excuse to go back. :)

You had to rush to shut the door each time so nothing would get in. No ants but flying things of all shapes and sizes. Very buggy at the beachs at night as well. I don't know if a higher floor would have changed that much since these bugs had wings!

You quite simply experienced the twice yearly Florida plague known as the invasion of the lovebugs. These are everywhere at WDW during May and September. Although harmless, they can do a number on a car's paint job, so it's important to wash them off! They're too busy "doing their thing/connected to one another" to really bother anyone.

Too bad the search function is down. You could do a search on "lovebugs" and find the MANY threads that would confirm this.

Just a comment on the bugs--they were terrible. I've been going in May for 10 years and always expect the "love bugs", but not the case this time. We just returned on the 17th and the biting bugs were horrible. We rarely saw the love bugs, which are not a big deal in the spring and fall, but the deer flys are out of control. Everyone, everywhere are getting bite. We tried to play mini-golf one evening and between swating the bugs and playing the games it was not good. The bite get red and infected. We go to WDW so often that we have lots of CM friends and the ones that work outside are getting eaten alive even with sprays. It seems Disney has gotten a little slack about spraying as they use to in the past. I've even seen many post about the camp ground. Let me say, when these buggers bite you,you will know it...ouch! and they draw blood too! And I still have the marks from almost 10 days ago. We leave in a couple of months for our summer trip and the bug repellants will be the first things packed this time.

Bruce, they didn't change the mugs!!!! I bought two for our eight day trip, used them maybe twice in the three days we were there, then we had to leave because of a death in the family. The hotel was the ONLY service that didn't charge me a LOT more for leaving early. My 3 day trip cost $90 less than the 8 days would have. PLUS, I promised dd (well, me, really) we'd finish our trip before our APs expired. One consoling thought was that at least I had five days on my mugs I wouldn't feel guilty about using! (Well, only one mug, since my dd only drinks milk.) Back to tap water or bottles from publix for me!

So sorry about your family's loss.

Yes, they changed the mugs pretty much over night. Sunday night they had stacks of the same Little Mermaid themed mugs they've had for I don't know how long and on Monday morning they were almost all replaced with the new ones.

We too got this last trip in on our about to expire annual passes. Our next trip will be in December when we'll purchase new APs.

The CBR is our favorite resort, but we're thinking of trying WL in December.
