This is our first time doing a moderate resort and so far it is disappointing for us.

First of all they had to replace the fridge, it was making a horrible noise and got the carpet wet. Then the toliet keeps running not all the time but occasionally.

The worse part is we have a connecting door and the bottom has a big gap in it...we were woke up this morning around 6am by this kid talking and yelling...she never stopped talking until they left.

Then this evening we got back to the room and she is yelling, crying and screaming so loud we couldn't even drown it out by the TV...we called and complainned and they said they couldn't do anything until after 10pm....but that they would report it to a manager.

We asked for tape to put around the door anything to help (we tried pillows)..we usually stay at Pop and never had a problem with noise like this.

Its so cold we haven't been able to use anything outside so I can't comment on that, the grounds do look nice but the place is so huge....we are in North Trinidad preferred room which we paid extra for also, suppose to be water view, maybe you could see the water if you tried but not likely.

So very very disappointed with our first try at a Moderate....its back to POp for us!!!

anyone else experienced something like this????

Oh no! Sorry you are having such a bad experience. We are staying there in Feb. Eeek!

We stayed at CBR in 2007, and while it's a gorgeous resort, after trying Pop last February, I would (and am) staying at Pop again.... I was willing to try POR or POFQ, but we are going partly during Pop Warner and didn't want to interfere.

It's not a bad place, but i hate that it's preferred or king - and the multiple bus stops means if you are the last stop you are always waiting...

I have stayed there 4 times and each time has been great! I am sorry to hear that you are having a bad time. It is a beautiful resort and the pool area is fantastic (if you can use it).

As for the loud kid next door, I wouldn't waste my energy being quiet . I have been there 3 times with kids under 4 and not once did my kid scream and yell in the rooms....that is just bad parenting! I know you can't control tantrums, but you can control dragging them from dawn til midnight and not being on a decent schedule. I am sorry you are stuck with lousy neighbors.

I hope the trip gets better for you!

I am sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with Carribean Beach. We had the opposite. The room was great and close to the pool and restaurants. My kids had a great time with everything. We had no problems with any disturbance from the other rooms. We went to bed early some nights and heard no one. And, we went to bed late on others and still not heard anything. I had friends who also went and had a great time. They did not say anything bad and these were people very picky. They would say something if they had a bad experience right away.

I'm with you, OP!

We didn't have the same problems you have encountered but the impression CBR left us with seems the same. We even stayed at POR once pre-cruise and although it was a better experience than CBR, it still wasn't a good "feel".

Moderates, IMO, are not worth the extra $$.

We love Pop!

Tomorrow morning, first thing, go to the front desk and ask for a room change. Explain about what you told us and ask to be moved to a quiet room.

I have done this many times. They definitely seem more willing to help in the morning. My room location can make my vacation, I will not put up with noisy neighbors or a bad location.

If you are in a preferred room catagory, you could request Martinique 25. We had a waterview room in 2007 that was right on the lake, about 2 minutes walk from the food court/pool.

I don't know how long you will be there, but don't put up with the room being so awful.

I agree with mmeb144. Ask to see if you can change rooms. See if they have one without a connecting door. There is no way I could tolerate that much noise from neighbors like that.

We only have one more night here (checking out Sunday am) so we can't change rooms....if we had come home the first night (we were out until 1am at MVMCP) and experienced this we would have asked to be moved, but it didn't start until this morning at 6am and then we left for the day....in by 8:30pm tonight so it was a diferent story, she was still up and roaring....

If we don't hear anything back I am for sure letting Disney know our experience.

thanks

I would still let them know especially since you complained once. I'm not one to ask for compensation in these matters but you never know what they might offer if you approach it rationaly and don't make a fuss.

ughhh, not what i want to hear for our upcoming trip. i hope you are able to enjoy some of your trip

We didn't enjoy CBR as much as we hoped as well. Nothing was truly wrong, it just wasn't what we hoped. We've stayed at POR several times and LOVE it, so maybe CBR just isn't the mod for you.

I've had issues as several resorts with noise from kids, Pop being one of them. I had this issue at CSR and an adult at CR. Seriously as an adult if you need to yell just to speak to someone while they are in the bathroom, then the conversation can wait. Talk about no manners. I've never had that issue at POFQ.

Personally paying for the water view at the moderates isn't worth it. You could have a view of a pool or a creative view of the water. Since you really can't see it from your room unless you are standing up it isn't worth the money.

CBR is landscaped so beautifully that you can't see the parking lot since they have so much landscaping.

et. Then the toliet keeps running not all the time but occasionally.

The worse part is we have a connecting door and the bottom has a big gap in it...B]

I know it is vacation time but do you mind being a handyman for a few minutes to prop up the float inside the toilet tank or turning off the shutoff valve under the tank to stop the every-so-few minutes running of the toilet? (Turn it back on when needed)

Would stuffing towels (Mousekeeping should furnish extras) or newspapers under the door help with the noise problem? Aren't there two doors right next to each other so a reasonable amount of stuffing can be put in between?

By the way, all frost free refrigerators give off a little water and need a pan underneath, hopefully the amount of water given off is small enough to evaporate before the pan fills up. Now if it is very noisy chaces are it is going to fail soon and should be taken to the repair shop.

I had a bad experience at CBR too ( last Christmas). Our room and building were really far from the food court and it was too cold to use the pools. I think this would be a nicer place for us in the warmer months. I also didn't like that the building was so close to a main road b/c it didn't feel like a resort. I wish I would have paid for preferred. The room was in bad shape too. I guess we had all built it up that it was going to be really great, but next time I'll go to POP and get my room facing the lake.
The food court at CBR was really good, though!

Yes it was making a horrible noise like it was going to take off anytime LOL

and the nightmare part is listening to that kid at 6am in the morning...I don't think you understand just how loud it is...and yes they woke us again this morning...didn't need Mickey to give me a call..Hah
we tried pillows but will try towels too

although the toliet did stop, I don't want to have to work on it...I didn't pay to stay here and do maintenance....

I am usually not a complainer and just go with the flow, but this is to much.

and I will talk to them, I know there isn't anything they can do right now, but maybe they will take care of the problem for the next guest??

just remember avoid North Trinidad room 3349....its on the corner with a connecting door

thanks for listening at least I can talk about it here

So sorry about your experience!

Remember, though, that when you call the front desk to complain, even from your room, you're not actually calling the "front desk." The call is routed to a call center which then determines to whom and when to pass on your message. The person at the call center can see it's coming from a room and from which resort, so he or she answers as if he or she were standing at the front desk. That's why you so rarely see a front desk CM on the phone.

You need either to 1) insist on speaking to the manager on duty - then you'll actually get someone at the resort; or 2) go to the front desk personally.

I really can't see how any of the OP's complaints qualify as a 'nightmare' or the CBR's fault. As for the fridge and toilet, those things happen at all hotels and probably at your own house. The crying child...it's Disney, it's full of kids, kids cry. You should have asked to be moved to another room. The weather...hardly the resort's fault; I bet it was cold at all the resorts. We've stayed at CBR and Poly and we actually had more fun at the CBR. The mods have the best food courts of any resorts.
