My family wants to spend most of our time in Nassau enjoying the ship, however, we would like to see a bit a Nassau. I have read that they line up outside the ship and that you need to negotiate price. What I need to know is, where do they take you? I read it is about a 20 minute ride. Then, do they bring you back to the ship, or leave you someplace if you want to do some shopping.

Thanks!

We took the carriage ride when we went on our cruise this past July. We'd never been, so didn't know what to expect. It was actually quite nice. We only paid $20 for the 4 of us (me, DH, and DS9 and DS11) and it was about 20-25 minutes. The driver showed us points of interest, which was nice, because then we could plan where we wanted to return to. We could see on a map where the Queen's Staircase was, but this way, he showed us how to get there, etc. He took us back to the ship area and then we knew exactly where to go back to! Just depends on if you think it would be worth it to you. We didn't even negotiate, since we thought that was a decent price for the 4 of us.

They took us up some back road, pointed out a house, cant remember whos it was....dropped us off at the straw market and we walked back to the ship...thats about all I remember of it. My daughter did enjoy it since it was a new thing for her but it scared the heck out of me LOL....

Thank you both so much. That helps a lot. For only $20 I think that is really worth it. Someone said $10 pp was a good price so that is really great. I guess when we get there, I'll ask the driver where he/she is going to take us--that back road thing is kind of scary.

I didn't mean back road as in deserted type road....it was the road in back of the main road in town LOL.....

The traffic is the part that can get a bit scary, although that holds true for driving in a regular vehicle as well as being in a horse carriage. The body shops in Nassau must make a fortune!
We've done the carriage ride several times and they always seem to take the same route, passing some of the main sights and giving a memorized spiel.

We just took the carriage ride in Nassau last week on our Wonder cruise. DH and I were with my parents, and they could not take all four of us in one carriage, we had to go two in one and two in another. We paid $10 each. Beware of a guy asking you for your camera to take your picture. I thought it was our driver who was going to take the picture, but some other guy did and then hinted about a tip. DH was going to give him $2 but I said no, $1 was enough!! The carriage ride was nice though, but not long enough. I would rather pay more and have a longer ride, outside of town, away from all the traffic and hustle and bustle. But we still enjoyed it.

We did the carriage ride in Nassau several years ago. It was a race through the town, you could not hear much of what the driver said (and he didn't care if we heard him or not - had to get back to pick up the next suckers). It was supposed to last about 20 to 30 minutes. We were back in less than 10. Then to top it off they took my camera, took our picture and would not give it back to us untill we came up with a satisfactory "tip" for both the driver and the picture taker. And it should be a "big extravagant" tip to show the lady just how much I loved her.

Got ripped off when we got on the ride and mugged when we got off - at least that is how it felt.

Neadless to say, won't be doing that again - ever!!
