Carpet question

We are currently finishing our basement and replace some of the carpet. One are will be a family room with TV and couch and the other will be a gameroom/playroom for our DS. We will have a ping-pong table and some of his toys in the gameroom.

Our problem is that DH and I cannot agree on carpeting. I want a darker color and he wants a lighter one. I really just want one that will not show the dirt as easy. It will probably not be high traffic and have already nixed Berber (we have a dog).

Any ideas?

We have berber and a dog and don't have any problems with it. Maybe it depends on the style of the berber

Maybe if you both go out to the carpet store, they will be able to advise you and even give you some ideas. Price around though, as when we were buying new carpet, we were quoted very different prices on the exact same carpet.
