We are getting new carpeting in our basement, but we don't want to get ripped off.
The area is about 400 square feet.
WE will be doing the ripping up of the old carpet, and the hauling away. We already have good tack strips installed, obviously, so they (the installers) will have a clean slate to work with.
We have a staircase, regular, with 12 steps.
The carpet itself is $1.88 a square foot, or $16-something a square yard. We haven't looked into padding prices yet.
What should be the absolute MOST we should expect to pay for installation?
