Carousel of Progress Rumors

I'd be sad and disappointed if they got rid of CoP. It's always been fun to watch and a great way to pass the time! Same with the People Mover, it's a MUST-DO every time I go to MK.

Now Stitch's Great Escape.... this is another vote for wishing it was on the chopping block. What a crummy ride!

I agree but you have to make something with stitch to make up for great escape

Stitch Rules!:stitch2:

I grew up going to DL and I cried so hard :sad2: when they took CoP away from DL and moved it to WDW. 15 years ago when my DH and I went for our 1st anniversary trip, that was the first thing I wanted to see!!! It brought back so many happy memories of growing up.
If it's not there in Aug 08 when we FINALLY return, I'll be a mess all over again.
Keep CoP please!!!!!

Me too!!! I remember hating WDW for taking my CoP away!! I was a kid then...so of course I must have driven my parents crazy with "That's not fair!!!".

I love COP, we tried to go on it last week and it was broke down for awhile and we never got back to it.

I wish they'd update just the last scene with new technology. Though I do admit, I miss the old song. . . "Now is the time, now is the best time, now is the best time of your life," Yes I know all the words if you want to know them LOL.

BTW, do you COP lovers know that They Might Be Giants did a cool version of Great Big Beautiful tomorrow for the Meet the Robinson's soundtrack? You can get it on itunes. It rocks. Or should i say, swings! :)

Save the COP, and return the Enchanted Tiki Room to its original state!

My mum and I loved CoP on our last trip (well, I liked it more than her, but whatever lol). The only downside was someone got up and left partway through the first scene and reset it so we had to sit through that scene twice, half of the second showing without audio (quite creepy actually). But other than that, I adored it. :)

it's on the chopping block

Ok, so I'm the only one that is worried when a CM says something like this.

We went on COP for the first time last October, and the wife sings the song all the time now. I loved that attraction. Would I like to see some updates? Yes, but as a historian, it's one of my favorites, and is a great compliment to TTA right across from it.

It's one of those rides that my family and I ride every time we go to MK. I love the song and the story line.
It's just stuck over in the corner next the theater.Which I have never gone to a show at. Do they even have shows there?princess:

It worries me very much! This is one of our very favorite rides. My 8 year old sings the song all the time and we ride it at least twice a day each day we are at MK. It's part of Walt's vision and he said it should always be a part of the parks. I would hate for WDW to loose site of it's creators wishes. :sad2: I just hope it is only up for renovation and not complete dismantle.

It is a must do everytime I am at WDW. Many years ago, just before packing the car, hubby sent me to MK for some Casey hotdogs to enjoy on the ride home (we LOVE Casey's). Anyway, rather than getting the hotdogs, I made a beeline (almost run) for COP. I was crushed to find it was not to open until later that day. I walked back to Casey's and got the hotdogs and sadly exited the park.

Okay, okay, I like the idea of adding a scene...
Ideally, although it would mean pretty much a complete redo (and a correspondingly lonnnnng closure :(), switch the scenes to every thirty years: 1900s, 1930s, 1960s, 1990s/current, and the future.
Or, as another poster indicated, use all six scenes: 00s, 20s, 40s, 70s, 00s, future.
And, as an extra added bonus: Assuming Disney has or can get the rights to the other song, alternate the music. Not by show, but maybe by week or month?

Oh, and who's in for a t-shirt: "Ho ho, hey hey, CoP has got to stay!" :teeth:

Or maybe "It's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow!" T-shirts? Either way...love the t-shirt idea!

I'd buy 6! One for each of my family!

I went on COP for the first time a couple of years ago. I honestly found it horribly boring. Not sure why people love it so much? :confused3 JHMO

Think about what it was like to people in the 1960's...plus it is one of the few directly Walt related attractions left.

I appreciate it for what it is and when it was made...plus where else do you find a theater that moves like that!

last week, every time we got a fast pass for space mountain, a bonus fastpass for CoP came out as well.

It grows on you. I found it boring the first time, but then each time I went on it for my DD's sake, I grew to love it. I sing the song, and it makes me feel warm inside. Give it another try - I bet it will become a fav of yours.
